Huge thanks to Tartlman on Discord for their feedback. A number of bugs have been squashed, and this version is now compatible with GZDoom 3.6 again!
The quick and dirty version is that some gadgets weren't working properly, being usable when tht weapon wheel was opened or when the player was dead. This is a lesson not to make any assumptions with your code!
Some other things are included. Some monsters are tougher, the Morph-O-Ray is a tad less awkward, etc. See the description for a full changelog.
EDIT: I noticed some comments in the 1.0 comments section and quickly took care of the bug. Hope that helps!
ADDITIONS
WEAPONS
-Monsters killed by the Morph-O-Ray drop 5 weapon XP upon morphing.
-Added NEVERFAST flag to decoys, mini-turrets, and Synthenoids.
ITEMS
-XP baubles turn invisible when they get close to the player.
-Help message receivers in the VR Training gun range now print their message to the screen.
-INVENTORY.UNCLEARABLE has been removed from gadgets.
MONSTERS
-Nukage Imps now move faster.
-Stone Imps move faster and have a ranged attack.
-Mecha-Demons now fire Cacodemon balls.
-Maggots have gained a substantial amount of health.
-Commander's damage increases with range. Base damage reduced slightly.
MAPS
Changed the color of the starting ledges in VR Training to try and make them a little more obvious.
OTHER
-Most splash effects can now spawn smoke when enhanced GFX are enabled.
-The player now enters god mode when in the VR Training gun range to cope with Mecha-Demons and Stone Imps firing projectiles.
BUGS FIXED
-Numerous gadgets and the double-jumped worked either when dead, when the weapon wheel was opened, or both. Solution: Add conditionals to check for these states where appropriate.
