Soldiering on with Rabid's Crap, the ultimate mod compilation. 10 more 2K textures, ambient sounds for the decor, a 3D model for the assault rifle,a change to the cursor and some fonts and the addition of Universal Enhanced AI!
As usual, none of the credit for this stuff really goes to me--I just get credit for shoehorning it all together and modifying it to my liking. There are 10 more of Hoover1979's 2K textures in here: Nuke24, Nukedge1, Nukeslad, Nukepois, Compohso, Comptile, Compute2, Compute3, Comp2 and Marbface.
I've added ambient sounds from Cosmetic Doom to several common items--barrels, lampposts, tech pillars, torches, etc. It really adds to the immersion, I find, especially with the universal reverb in effect.
The assault rifle is now a 3D model, taken from Doom 3D by Boondorl. It was designed as a submachine gun, but the look fits.
The menu now has the Chasm Zrift selector and some of the text, and the in-game notification text is also from there. Credit goes to Pandut. And I'm not done messing with the menu--it's still kinda fucked up.
Last but not least comes the Universal Enhanced A.I. mod by Josh771. It makes the monsters a little smarter in how they look for you. The changes aren't usually obvious and I'm sure there's plenty still to be done in terms of monster A.I. But it should make things interesting.
For those wondering about the direction of Rabid's Crap, all I can tell you is that following it will be worth the wait. The ultimate payoff might not come until, like, version 50, but it will all be more confluent eventually. I know right now it's all over the place, but it will gel. At the same time, though, it will never lose its chaotic nature. I'm planning to eventually make a whole game out of it with various WADs arranged as a confluent episode. The balance and progression will be ridiculous, and I'll be modifying them with additional things according to whatever I happen to like. Be prepared, 'cause it's gonna be one hell of a ride!
After starting the game with GZDOOM for 10 seconds, the game crashes, prompting Could not submit command buffer: device lost
Has something to do with this mod, apparently: Moddb.com I added in those plastic shaders a while back. Are you using Vulkan? Try OpenGL and let me know if you're still having a problem.
The reason is that GZDOOM version is too low, GZDOOM4.5.0 version will appear Could not submit command buffer: device lost, after using GZDOOM4.6.0, it runs normally
Hello author, can you add BOT companions to this mod? They are 3D teammates. Add some summoning items to the game, pick them up and use them, you can summon BOT companions. There are male and female character models. They have the same weapons as the protagonist. They follow the player to help the player fight. They won't really die, they will be reborn after a while after being killed, because I don't like fighting alone.
Thanks for the request. The only problem here is that I don't have a lot of time to work on this relative to what I want to accomplish. Bots definitely do not figure into my plans. If you know someone or can persuade someone in the community to make a fork of my mods with bots in it, more power to you.
