This is the real deal: the complete experience. Sound FX AND music. Rock hard with some truly powerful guitar riffs or immerse yourself in the dystopian
futuristic ambiance with dark electronic soundscapes as you blast Strogg
legions into the stratosphere. This, is the definitive way to play Quake 2.
HOW TO USE THE MOD (KMQuake2 sourceport required!):
1) Extract the archive.
2) Rename the file Q2HM_2.0.pak to pak9.pak and place it into the 'baseq2' directory,
which is inside your Quake II folder. That's it. You're all set for the SFX part of
the mod. Play the game!
If so happens, that you already have a pak9.pak inside your 'baseq2' folder - then
use any other number between 9 and 99 - but it has to be higher than whatever you have
inside 'baseq2'. If you have a previous version of Q2HM there, - just overwrite it, or
delete prior to. You won't need that one anymore, it is thoroughly obsolete.
FOR THE MUSIC PART:
1) Download the FULL VERSION of the mod. NOT the lite SFX-only version.
2) Extract archive. There will be a folder called "music". Copy it (and everything in it)
to your "baseq2" folder inside your Quake II directory. The tracks will NOT(!) play yet,
because they are in separate subfolders.
3) Inside the "music" folder, there are two subfolders: "electronic" and "rock". Go into
either one of these (whatever you desire to hear in-game) and copy (or move) all ten
tracks directly to "baseq2\music". NOW, you're all set.
4) Play the game! Should you want to switch the soundtrack to the other style - just put
back the tracks (or delete, depending whether you copied or moved them previously),
and copy or move the other ten tracks from the respective folder to "baseq2\music".
***Make sure you also enable OGG Vorbis music playback in the game options.
Enjoy the game!
Congrats! I've never played Quake 2, but will do due to your mod.
