Contains PSX DOOM CE with PBR materials, new sounds and more. Requires DOOM2.WAD (see prerequisites instructions below). Comes bundled with GZDoom 4.12.2 for convenience, but you can use an existing installation of it. Read the readme for more details.
NOTE IF UPGRADING FROM <=3.8: Saved games from previous versions won't work! This version has breaking changes, so any map packs from ModDB's addons tab need to be downloaded again. The 3PointFilter and AspectRatio addons are not needed anymore and should be deleted.
Version 3.9.2 (Full)
- [Unto the Cruel] Fixed the level only appearing after Fear when the Lost Levels addon is loaded.
- Implemented PSX exclusive light specials to allow for future map conversions. The current campaign does not use them.
- Fixed monsters not respawning if the 'always respawn' gameplay option is enabled.
- Updated the bundled GZDoom to 4.12.2. The minimum required version is still 4.10.
Prerequisites
Starting from version 2.0.5, PSX DOOM CE does not run standalone and requires the DOOM 2: Hell on Earth WAD (DOOM2.WAD) to run. This change was made because many of the map packs being ported depend on DOOM 2 assets that are not present in PSX DOOM.
The BFG Edition and Unity rerelease DOOM 2 WADs are not supported. If you have DOOM 2 installed in Steam, open its installation folder and copy DOOM2.WAD from the base folder (not rerelease) into your gzdoom directory.
If the wad is present, you will be able to select PSX DOOM CE from the list when opening gzdoom.
Probably not too thrilled to hear from me again :D
But I really think there is something wrong with all the releases since quite a while, ever since 3.7.1 it simply does not load the mods in the included files
I have tried every version since 3.7.1 and I get the same results, only the last two versions this one and the one just prior do load the custom water shader effect, and the custom weapon effects like shell casings and wall decals, but none of them load the widescreen mod properly or the textures
Just giving you the feedback again because it's still happening to me, and I've tried on 3 different PCs and get the same result, so its very unlikely the settings I am using, there is something wrong with the mod package and the loading of the files
Hard to tell what's wrong, since I can't reproduce the issues and no one else has reported anything similar. It could be that you are using the GLES renderer.
As per the FAQ:
Ideally only Vulkan or OpenGL should be used. OpenGL ES is only partially supported because it disables shader based effects which this mod relies heavily upon, even on its most faithful settings. It should only be used as a compromise if your hardware has problems running on the other backends.
I wish I could find the reason as well
I can check if it is set to Vulkan, I'll try again, if I solve it I'll come back haha
Edit - Yup I have no idea still either, I tried a portable ini, without portable ini, even in the launcher it is set to Vulkan and widescreen, and so it is in-game, still just doesn't work, no clue, still not having issues with any other mods
Will there be a map replacement pack that reverts the jaguar levels to the pc version?
I don't plan to work on one, so someone else would need to do it.
What upscaler is used for the Upscaling addon? I want to know because I am making my own Addon for this adding a few extra stuff into the game, and would love to know what upscaler to use for consistency in weapon sprites.
I used various models, sometimes interpolated. It depends on the sprite. From the top of my head: esrgan, universalupscaler, fatality, rebout, smoothrealism.
