PROJECT DAMOCLES
This is the initial 0.55 release of Project Damocles, the Sins of the Prophets and Dawn of the Reapers merge, which features 3 additional factions loosely integrated into the Sins of the Prophets framework. The factions alongside the vanilla UNSC and Covenant are the Systems Alliance, the Citadel Council, and the Reapers. This is explicitly listed as a public Alpha, since we’ll only go into a Beta once we’re ‘feature complete’ and all faction integrations are finished. Please review the following Installation Guide and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and before commenting or asking for troubleshooting help.

Installation Instructions:
1) Download the Zip folder from ModDB.
2) Extract the file using 7zip or Winrar. There should be three items, the "ProjectDamocles" mod folder, the “Enabled Mods” text file and the README file.
3) Copy and past these files into your “Mods-Rebellion v1.85” folder, located in your My Documents. If you’re starting Sins of a Solar Empire for the first time, it likely has not been generated yet. Run the game and the folder should appear.
4) Run the game! You should see the Intro movie change.
Note: Do not attempt to pile on other mods, however light, onto this total conversion and expect it to work perfectly. We can’t help you if you have a customized loadout.
You DO NOT require Sins of the Prophets and Dawn of the Reapers to be downloaded in order to run this mod, but they’re (obviously) highly recommended on their own!
Frequently Asked Questions:
1) What are the playstyle/descriptors for each faction?
The Covenant - expensive but powerful ships all around
UNSC - cheap, no shields and strong defenses
Council - intended to be the middle ground, relies on Capital Ship based ability heavy micro
Alliance - boasts strong fighters with antishield Javelin missiles, frigate based fleets
Reapers - extremely expensive but equally strong, the early game will make or break you
2) I have a lore concern!
You will likely be disappointed in this area- this merge is not meant to be lore friendly and a lore friendly version would not be very fun to play. Damocles exists because it IS fun to play. The universes exist on different power scales. If you have concerns about lore or want values that are to your liking, feel free to make your own patch or submod.
3) But wait, the scaling is off!
See above, to an extent. I also didn’t want to spend the tedious effort of resizing all these DotR models.
4) Where should I go if I find a bug or encounter a minidump error?
Please go to the “Bug Reporting” channel on our discord or post on the “Bug Reporting” thread on the Damocles subreddit. If a known bug exists, noncritical ones will be compiled/listed and serious bugs will receive a hotfix.
5) What is the current status of the factions?
5a) Council: Incomplete asset migration. They were the first faction to be integrated and were done in a piecemeal fashion. However, all ships and research are in, even if all the abilities and buildings are not. They are still playable and enjoyable though. Expect to see a few placeholders.
5b) Reapers: Complete asset migration. Should have all ships, buildings, abilities, and most 2D assets. They are currently extraordinarily strong, due to somewhat zealous attempts at mitigating their early game weaknesses. As always, balance is not complete and will be changing.
5c) Systems Alliance: Complete asset migration. Should have all ships, buildings, abilities, and most 2D assets. Balance wise, they’re undergoing significant last-minute upheavals in order to achieve a semblance of balance. Expect them to be even more experimental than the rest.
6) What’s the status of the 2D assets?
Somewhat integrated. Things like customized loading screens that fit the SotP aesthetic, faction player pictures and a sizable portion of the icons are not yet implemented. However, nearly all of the ships and ability icons have been.

mod dosnt work followed installation instructions but checksum stays at 0
Are you replacing the Enabled Mods text file? You're the only person with this error so far, so it's something on your end.
i get the same thing, i have the foolder ProjectDamocles 0.55a in my Mods-Rebellion v1.85/ProjectDamocles 0.55a, inside of the folder i hav3 things, ProjectDamocles folder, Enable Mods file and Readme.txt
I had the same issue, i found the mod was in 3 folders make sure u see it like this Mods-Rebellion v1.85\ProjectDamocles 0.55a.
BTW its great and all but it crashes randomly.
after downloading, I tried to move the file into the mod folder but is giving an "unspecified error" and wont let me copy it over. Is there any way around this?
Are you following the installation instructions?
You'll need to extract the file and then post it over.
I have the same error, looks like a problem unzipping the file? I can unzip other zip files, so I don't think it's a problem on my end.
Are you unzipping it with 7zip or Winrar as directed? It's extra compressed to save space, so the usual windows unzipping won't work.
Balance do seem bit arbitrary from time to time (some large battles drag on like 5 minutes), but overall it feels like playing entirely different mod and that's a good thing. Thanks for your hard work, devs.
Balance will be a long-running work in progress, unfortunately. It'll get better as releases go by.

First of all, loving your work! I love both Halo and Mass Effect and this merger is extremely cool! One quick question and perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but how do I spawn hero units for the alliance faction?
i tried to start a game with all 5 races, but it crashed the game
Potentially related question: What's your screen resolution?
I know vanilla SotP has issues with smaller resolution sizes.
Apart from that, I would suggest that you give it a reinstall. Could have been corrupted?

ok, now it's crashing as soon as i click on any units during and after the countdown beeps, no crash report window or minidump files
I'm also crashing a lot, installed on different PCs and still got the same issue. Freezing or just crashing the game completely

Is your PC older? What graphics settings are you using? Are you able to run Sins of the Prophets without crashing?
Yeah loading in then crashing, PCs are both less than 2 years old and able to Run SOTP. While I'm here are there Alliance Hero ships or are those just placeholder research?

Odd. Can you verify the integrity of the Steam files and then possibly do a reinstall of the mod if you haven't already?
Is it giving you a generic crash to desktop or a minidump?

Its either a freeze that freezes the whole PC or its a crash to desktop with no minidump
Non-minidump errors are harder for me to fix, but most of the time my speculation regarding them tends to fall inside the lines of "SoaSE's Engine is showing its age."
With such a large mod folder file size, SoaSE struggles if you have Project Damocles on faster speeds. This won't cause crashes with minidumps, but (depending slightly on computer strength) you can encounter random Crash to Desktops if you have it at a high speed for a while and then select a bunch of units at once.
