No no, the same as 2.2 version but now it is compatible with Steam.

Try installing it in steamapps. You Will find the 2.2 patch in the files of this mod.

I've extracted the mod to the Half Life steam folder, and when I open up the game itself (from steam's own shortcut) I have to click New Game twice before anything happens, and it automatically CTD a second or two into the "starting local game server" progress bar. Any ideas?

Did you put it in steamapps?

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Yes, in the steamapps/common/half life folder. I'm not entirely sure what could have gone wrong - I suppose I could try a fresh install of half life and re-install the mod; maybe too many mods causes issues with steam? Not sure why they would, but Brutal Half Life also crashes at a weird spot (killing a vortigaunt in one spot in Office Complex). Perhaps it's the three (including this) mods I have?

Also for clarification, it should just be the half life folder right, not digging into the opposing force folder? Either way, I'll let you know in case the fresh install doesn't work.

Make sure you have the opfor.dll

A fresh install of both Half Life and Opposing Force didn't work; where should I put opfor.dll? It's currently in the common\Half Life\gearbox\dlls folder; should I make a copy and put it somewhere in opros?

mmm I don't know what could that be really... you can try creating a folder named dlls intro opros folder and locate the opfor.dll inside it

Okay so I did that, and it resulted in a slight change. Now, the "starting local game server" progress bar appears on the first try of new game, but does nothing and just, I don't know, cancels out? And goes away, leaving me with the main menu. It doesn't crash though, I was able to quit out manually. I copied over the entire dlls folder from opfor to opros; did I *only* need the opfor dll, or is this still some weird problem?

mmm maybe if you download the OPROS Non-Steam version and just copy the opfor.dll located there (in the dlls folder).
Then paste that dll into the dll folder on your Steam Opros folder. Is it clear?

Okay, so I am able to start the game when I copied over all folders (copying just the dlls did not work), as many of them do not exist in the steam version. However, breakables (wooden crates, the wooden barricades in the training rooms) are not breakable (I tried for about 1 minute each), and I constantly get game over screens for weird things (after the first training test when you get in the elevator behind the secret wall, I get a game over with "Corporal will go to prison for murder" or something, and in the very first level when I have the engineer move to the big door button, I get a game over "Corporal failed to command properly his troops" or something; I tried both with just the engineer and bringing everyone else, both failed).

Should I not have copied everything? It seems there may have been some kind of problem there...

Oh, and very much thanks for commenting with me to help.

Mmm Lt_Voss don't know how to assist you... I would try a fresh new install of the whole mod (don't forget the patch).
That should work... nobody ever has reported those issues so far...

Putting in the patch didn't help much - just went back to crashing when trying to start a new game. Copying the Client DLL and DLL files from the OpFor folder made it so I could actually play, but with same problems (example I swung knife on the boards in the training 30+ times and they didn't break). I also noticed for some reason that my turning (example turning the mouse left and right) had a limit - after a certain time I can't look left or right any more, only up and down. I can turn in the other direction for a time until it stops there too.

Should I try installing the non-steam version into the steam folder (with patch) to see if maybe that works? Because I would like to play this mod (looks *really* interesting) but I just can't seem to get it working as it is.

Try replacing the "liblist" file with these lines:

gamedir "opros2.0"
game "Operation Rosenberg"
startmap "of0a0"
trainmap "ofboot0"
version "1"
size "96000000"
svonly "0"
hlversion "1108"
type "single"

//cldll "1"
gamedll "..\gearbox\dlls\opfor.dll"
gamedll_linux "../gearbox/dlls/opfor_i386.dll"

fallback_dir "gearbox"

That worked! 2.0 steam version, with 2.2 patch, and changing the liblist file worked. Boxes break as normal (I assume you made some boxes, even wooden ones, unbreakable on purpose?), I can turn as much as I want, I no longer fail the mission by doing what I should be doing. I played through all the way through one ending (rescue/capture Dr. Rosenberg) and I'm looking forward to playing through other endings! Thank you, so much.

Can you change the label from full version to patch? Full version gives the impression that you don't need the base 2.0 files for the mod to work.

Actually this is the Steam version so you don't need the other base files. However, if you want to improve this version you can always replace the old files with the 2.2 patch files.

The mod's throwing a fit about "DLL API" not being on "G", a drive that doesn't exist.

Mmm that's weird... Try locating the dll folder of the non-steam version into the opros folder

Hola Aerials, proba copiando la carpeta dlls en la version NoSteam dentro de la version Steam a ver si ahi te lo permite...

Por otro lado checkea que el archivo "liblist" sea asi:

gamedir "opros2.0"
game "Operation Rosenberg"
startmap "of0a0"
trainmap "ofboot0"
version "1"
size "96000000"
svonly "0"
hlversion "1108"
type "single"

//cldll "1"
gamedll "..\gearbox\dlls\opfor.dll"
gamedll_linux "../gearbox/dlls/opfor_i386.dll"

fallback_dir "gearbox"

Doesn't seem to work for me.
Used the change game and the shortcut way of playing the game and It didn't work.
When I try to launch the game It won't launch. When I try and launch another time the game starts to load and then crashes.
I am using the current steam 2.0 version.

After a few different attempts I couldn't get it to work. Feels like the mod wasn't tested at all. First my weapons didn't work, tried a patch, then mouse stopped working correctly. I gave up.
You should thoroughly test it out on steam version before releasing.
