Description

This update is focused on stability issues and some quality of life changes. I wanted to make it after watching several Twitch streams and getting frustrated with crashes and some issues the players had.

Any chance we can get some improvements to Black Mesa minute?
There's some long segments wherein there's nothing to kill but the timer still runs such as swimming to and going through the drain pipes after the dam in surface tension

I remember playing through all of these myself and didn't see much issue. On Residue processing I vaguely remember placing some additional enemies specifically so they could be killed or crowbared for some additional time. At the start of Surface Tension - try abusing explosives, and when you get through first level change - go to the left, there are some headcrabs at dead end you can get explosive kills with for 30sec bonus.

I also don't know if you're talking about whole playthrough, because in that case the downtime is acceptable, you'd accumulate plenty of time by that moment.

I am having some problems with the mod, and that is when NPCs start dying for no reason after playing scripted sequences. Have I installed the mod wrong? What's going on?

Hey suXin, I think you broke ZikShadow's Remod HD Pack with this update, probably because the dlls are setup to be near client.dll, when they used to be near hl.exe and that's what remod expects, if you try to move them over there you get no music, no subtitles, and probly other things missing. I am aware we could just take the contents of Remod and overwrite stuff in the main folder, but the idea is that it's supposed to work as an addon and fallback to Normal HP folder for all the stuff it needs. Please give us an update / option so the mod could work again if dlls are placed near hl.exe, unless you have another solution, or unless you talked with zik about this already. As it stands, you try to launch Remod, you get the loading screen and then, Crash... . . . . .

I completely forgot about remods and testing them. The issue is in the path resolving code, it expects files to be in the current mod directory and doesn't respect fallback_dir specified in liblist.gam

I appreciate the concern, I will think of the fix.

Thank you, the easiest fix in my mind would be to include a version of client dll that expects bass and all the others to be where they were in previous versions, like, just re-upload and put a folder in there as a compatibility patch for people who wish to use remod, but you're probably thinking of something more fancy so you can keep things in one place and still make it work, whatever you think works best, glad you're working on it, hard to say if Zik is alive these days :)

That's not a fix but a hack, the dll files better stay in half_payne, tons of people were missing putting them in half-life directory otherwise and then went to tell me mod isn't working.

Let me do the right thing, the fallback_dir thing is already niche so it makes sense I didn't think of it.

Yeah, I know that's a hack, and yes, I've red the changelogs and your reasons for moving stuff, "fixing" it like that would defeat the point yes, dealing with the fallback thing makes more sense from that point of view
