The Remaster of Gothic II: Gold Edition is the most graphically complex version of the game to date while maintaining its originality in terms of story, look and gameplay. All areas and locations were basically retained as in the original - except for the now much higher level of detail in the game worlds. For installation details -
Installation instructions:
You need the original game incl. the addon The Night of the Raven in the official last version. Install following tools in the order listed, if you haven't already done so:
- SystemPack 1.8 (alternatively: Union 1.0m or higher)
- D3D11-Renderer für Gothic II (optional, recommended for even better graphics)
- NormalMaps (optional, only available in combination with D3D11 renderer - textures get a 3D/depth effect)
Finally, run the Remaster setup and select your Gothic II game directory. The modification is compatible with all game languages and can be run after finishing the installation via GothicStarter.exe (located in the system folder of Gothic II).
It is also possible to use the Remaster as a simple graphics patch for other modifications or the main game without adapted worlds. To do this, just rename the file Remaster_Graphics.mod to Remaster_Graphics.vdf in the folder ...\Data\ModVDF and move this file to the ...\Data folder of Gothic II.
Compatibility savegames:
Game saves from the original version are not compatible with the Remaster. Game saves from older versions of the Remaster as well as the High Vegetation Mod are compatible to a limited extend. A new game is recommended to avoid incompatibilities and faulty objects in the game worlds.
