An update for the EZ2 demo!
Demo patch 0.1
We’ve just released a new version of the Entropy : Zero 2 demo!
This version fixes a bunch of stuff and has been updated with some new bits.
Changelog:
- New NVG system.
- Major APC buffs.
- New APC storage feature.
- Nerfed Vortigaunt attack speed and increased attack range to compensate.
- Re-lit and added more detail to certain areas.
- Other misc. Changes to address demo feedback.
Also:
- New MP5K
- New Animations
- New Sounds
- New arms
- Updated model
- And a few other general fixes
- Demo exclusive VMFs
- We’re packaging this version of the demo with some VMFs from the demo. You can find them in the mapsrc folder.
We hope you enjoy the demo update. Going forward we will be focusing on development of the core mod - so you might not see another one for a while.

NVG break forcefields
Okay I think I'm going to limit myself to gameplay feedback. I think a lot of issues I have with EZ2 are down to personal taste, this mod is obviously going in a somewhat different route to EZ and HL2 games in general and I can't really expect you to change it based on my personal tastes. Anyway gameplay wise:
The good:
Love having Combine Squad members
Love the idea of using grenades to cover up antlion burrows
Love your take on the Reviver Headcrab from Alyx
Driving the APC is fun
The whole second level for me personally was amazing
The new pistol is really nice
The bad:
The red NV does not work. Red naturally is not a good colour for illumination which is why it's used for low lighting e.g. photo development. Having NV as red makes it near enough useless, most of the time I could see better without it. I get that the elite's helmet is read but it just does not work gameplay wise. the Blue NV in EZ worked much better.
Bullsquid AI definitely needs work as most of the time they seemed to ignore me.
The APC tunnels aren't amazing to be honest. They're visually pretty boring, I know this is only in Alpha but they're just not that visually pleasing, tunnels like this exist in HL2 but you're not usually in them for very long.
Please add a Melee weapon, stunstick comes to mind. Half-Life games have it ingrained into a lot of peoples minds that you need to use a melee weapon to open crates. It's annoying to have to use up Ammo to open crates for Ammo.
The only other feedback I have is that I wish the levels were a bit longer. It feels like I got through them really quickly.

You can use pulse pistol, it recharges the ammo. And red nightvision is now a lot better but not in this demo. Also there is now kicking ability. Stunstick sounds really bad for a combine elite i hope we dont get it. But there is a flashback scene that you use stunstick to clear vents from headcrabs and you have blue nvg for that scene.

my only gripes are that the red NVG doesn't really sit well with my eyes, it has me straining to see in the dark house during the buggy level. that's it, i love everything else!

1. kill a vort
2. 'npc_create npc_combine_s', combine is pot
3. 'give weapon_physcannon', 'physcannon_mega_enabled 1' and gravity gun vort to combine
4. 'ent_fire !picker ignite' vort body
5. extinguish yourself because you somehow ignited yourself and now the pot is dead combine
6. crash the game via 'ent_fire !picker setrelationship "player D_HT"' on a combine soldier. preferably with both player and combine alive
7. enjoy your soup

The game is very good and it is very supportive, but my demo always shows that the download failed, and the download time is surprisingly long, is it due to network problems?
Having learned this update existed, I return for additional feedback.
APC no longer feels like a deathtrap, the handling feels much nicer and the turret actually seemed to hit things this time around, rockets still seemed a bit inaccurate but I guess they don't really need to be. Pressed use on pretty much every part of the APC, never found that storage feature. I *did* have an issue while trying to ram a bullsquid, went into it full-speed and it just clipped into the APC and started eating me from the inside. A few seconds later, I gently backed into it and sent it flying.
Vorts now feel fair, damage is still massive but they're slow enough now that it's fine.
Only saw one issue with bullsquids, while I was in the APC. Their hitbox doesn't seem to cover their tail at all, so all shots just went through it. They're pretty hyper-aggressive so I guess you'll be shooting them from the front the vast majority of the time anyways. I kept the last one alive and used it to help me with the final section, the vorts swarmed it and while they were all gathered I tossed a relay grenade, fun times.
Also, was I imagining things, or can bullsquids heal themselves? Most seemed to go down fairly quickly, but I recall one or two that took a bite out of some corpses and seemed much harder to put down.
The new nightvision is a bit overwhelming, while in a pitch-black area I could use it to see immediately in front of me, in almost any other situation it made it more difficult to see if anything.
Final note, I don't think this is anything you can fix, but I had a soldier trip on either a corpse or a rollermine and die from the prop damage during the office section.
Nightvision aside, pretty good improvements from the previous version, high hopes remain.

I'm super happy you brought a bullsquid to the Vort fight - and mixed it up with a xen grenade. This is the kind of organic gameplay we are trying promote with EZ2. Sometimes I think players are so used to having that linearity we see so much of in HL2, that they won't think for themselves in these situations. Encounters in EZ2 are deliberately designed to give you a choice. So I'm super happy about that!
I just wanted to say that Bullsquids do indeed heal when they find food and eat. Any ragdoll can be considered food for a bullsquid, so in future it may be preferable to focus them down first in a multi-party encounter :)
All of your other points are valid and we will work over the coming months to fix and polish these things.

I left there comment with some issues with captions. I don't know why it fixed by reinstall the mod. But when I switch lang in Steam, translated captions does not appear. How can it be fixed?

This is AWESOME so far! I really look forward to the full game. I personally don't mind the NV, and aside from small little things here and there, the game was completely glitch free. excellent work you guys are doing so far, I look forward to the finished product.

I'm having trouble downloading the file. For some odd reason it downloads as a Windows Media Player file, am I missing something?
