This little mod divides Doom II into 4 episodes (all of them were divided according to doom wiki) and makes some changes in post-episode text screens, to make them feel like those from Doom I.
This wad is standalone and it doesn't need Doom2.wad to work properly.
The episodes:
Hell on Earth (levels 1-6);
The Outpost of Hell (levels 7-11);
Return to Danger (levels 12-20);
Beyond the Entryway (levels 21-30).
There are some changes in maps 6, 11 and 20. Instead of going to next level (7, 12 and 21, respectively), they show post-episode text screen and then EndGame screen, like episodes' final maps do in Doom I. In fact, there are no any EndGame screens, other than one, where we see developers' names.
can this work in wadsmoosh?
It must work everywhere, because there is original Doom2.wad with changed code in a file. I tested on ZDoom ports, it is fine.
I tried wadsmoosh on Zandronum, it didn't work.
sounds like wadsmoosh on zandronum was made for zdoom in mind.
Maybe. As I understand, wadsmoosh needs original Doom II file to work without issues. And only then it may be possible to change files to divide the Hell on Earth in episodes
how do you add the file to doom_complete.pk3?
I place all the needed wads in folder, than launch wadsmooth
nevermind. i couldn't do wadsmoosh for whatever reason. but, it works via bat file way.
