Mapping competition that was from 15th of february to the 21th. Entrants were to make maps that utilized a companion.
This is a sourcemod that uses the Source 2013 Singleplayer SDK. To install, place the "companionpiece" folder inside your "sourcemods" folder which can be found under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods" if you are using the default steam install path.
Then you need to make sure you have installed "Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer" under the tools section of your steam library, then you also need to make sure that you have set it to the "upcoming" beta. You can do this via right clicking on the sdk, selecting "Properties", then "Betas" and lastly selecing "upcoming".
Entrants include:
- "Carnival Wanderlust" by The_GuardianTM and White_Red_Dragons
- "Mapper's Block" by Matt71490 AKA Event Horizon
- "Hazardous Route" by Steven Cabbage - 2nd place!
- "Kraken" by Jean 'XBLAH' Knapp and alex_mmc
- "The Hatchling" by 1upD, Tiop, and Dave - 1st place!
- "Roller Mill" by PineappleSurprise - 3rd place!
- "Crate Expectations" by Kralich
Due to me being an absolute idiot, i sent the wrong version of the map before the deadline.
So here's a patch with the CORRECT map version.
Drive.google.com
(The said map is A Map With No Name)
(Apparently the dl was updated with the proper file so you dont need this one anymore :D)
Carnival Wanderlust - looks like a joke. Replayed few times thinking I missed something. Worst one.
Mapper's Block - short, kinda funny, kinda meta.
Hazardous Route - the best one overall.
Kraken - nice mapping but Alyx AI made me mad. Have to return to her constantly.
The Hatchling - the second favourite. Nice map and cute Companion.
Roller Mill - the most satisfying gameplay award. I missed this since 2006.
Crate Expectations - nice Portal parody.
A Map With No Name - it's OK.
If you read note about the closure in Carnival Wanderlust. Look at the date and that's the code.
I did properly finish the map. It looks half-made, without proper ending.
I hate downloading from this site. I have to use a download manager that can manage multiple chunks at once just to break 300kb/s, and even then I'm lucky to hit 400kb/s.
Thanks for the feedback!
i like that map:
-Mapper's Block
-Hazardous Route
