Thank you Pieter for setting this up. I hope this site has a better lay out than the one we have been using. It appears that one can not post attachments here tho. What does it take to set up a folder on the FTP?

The ModDB forums don't seem to be an ideal solution, but it's better than nothing.

The PA! FTP still works as far as I'm aware.

I think this will do for the few hardcore types to atleast chat about stuff! Fingers crossed we can find out what has happened to the main PA site and there is a solution to set about returning it to functionality! We were all lost at sea until you set this place up Pieter, thank you matey

Let me know if we need any more subforums here. Theoretically we could also set up the forums for the mod profiles instead, but I figured it might be nice to keep it central for both our modpacks so we can all see more easily what we're up to.

Highly unlikely this is of much help, but the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has archived snapshots of PA. They aren't very recent (2009), and the topics' content by and large don't seem to have been archived.

The main page is on there, too, but it's snapshot is as ancient as the rest of the site.

I feel like we've been kicked out of our house and are showing up together at the homeless shelter/soup kitchen with small boxes of whatever we could carry with us.

Maybe a better analogy for us is that we just lost our ship and are just now getting a head count of who managed to survive and make it up to the shores of our new desert isle home.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful that we can continue our work here and have at least this desert isle to inhabit, but the loss of our deep thread conversations, with all of their knowledgeable germane, and valuable historical, visual and technical content is a most grievous loss.

I'm still holding out hope PA! will be back some time soon. Apparently occasionally people see the main forum page, so it's not 100% gone; apparently the servers are really crap at the moment though. Or something; I don't know.

Thanks for the invite MK, and thanks for setting this up Pieter, well done mate! I have very little idea what is going on with PA, it seems to be some kind of weird database issue the server host is having with both the forum and the main page. I haven't heard from Keith at all, but it's clear someone is working with it trying to get it going. Don't give up the ship quite yet mates! PA has had similar issues in the past, and we have always come out stronger on the other end.

Keith has become very good at making backups, so I am sure there is at least a very recent complete backup of the site somewhere, so I am sure most of the recent forum activity has been saved. I thought for a while there last night it was fixed, it seemed stable and I was able to post to the front page even. I'll let you all know if I find out any more information.

If anyone DOES manage to get on there -which apparently sometimes happens- can you please post a note in the "PA! Notification Thread" in your PMs (most of you should be included in that) and point everyone here? That way at least people know where to reach us until the main PA! site goes back online.

I was able to get on and post a reply in the thread a few minutes ago Pieter, another good idea mate! Hopefully that will at least let people know we are still alive.

I'll keep an eye out and see if I can grab the email list should the forum come back again - I doubt there's anybody listed that's not already included in the "PA! Notification Thread", but you never know. Unless somebody already has that, that is?

Can someone please confirm that at least some of those notifications got sent? I was also able to post on the notification section of the forum, and a link on the front page as well.

Keith is working on the site - he replied to someone asking what was wrong on there a little while ago. I was able to access the whole forum, topics included, for about five minutes.

PMs are working as well, since I was able to access the notifications list while logged in.

Thanks Stallion, looks like Keith has made the decision to move hosting back to the US as well.

The main page and the forum loads for me again and it seems almost normal exce[t the (OFFLINE) in the forum's title. Anyone knows what's up with that one?

I get the message(well i did an hour ago when i last tried) that Keith knows there is a problem, Malaysia hosting has been a nightmare and they are moving the hosting back to the usa, and to be patient, it should be done soon and PA will survie.

I don't know exactly what the problem is Pieter, but apparently something with the forum database and the SQL server. Either the server host changed the way it accessed the database, or something in their code changed. The main page is mainly just HTM and CSS, so it isn't affected in the same way. By the sound of it, I doubt Keith knows exactly what they are doing. That's just pure speculation on my part though, I really have no idea!

When the forum was completely down, the main page was as well though.
At least the message got through to Keith and things are on the uprise again.

The website and forums are back up and appear to be stable. Please let me know if any of you notice anything wonky!

Pieter, I noticed on the Pirates Ahoy Community page here at Mod DB, the last sentence is pointing to www.piratesahoy.com,, that URL no longer points to us. When you get the chance, could you please change that to www.piratesahoy.net.. Thanks mate!

I'm still getting the [Server Off-line] message when trying to get to the PA forums, i can get to the main site, but when i click the 'Forum' tab i get that error page:

Sorry guys, this server hosting in Malaysia has been a nightmare of biblical proportion.

I'll be moving it all back to a US based server and hopefully that will get everything back on the road again.

Give me until tomorrow, I'm really sorry for all the screwing around
that's happened but we're near the end and PA! will still keep kicking
along.
