Ok, let's talk about smth. It would be like mindflow, you're welcome to comment and argue.

First, I must apologise for my absence: I have problems in real life, so I can't fully combine it with the modding stuff, so I do hope on team's self-segulation, as we're not doing it just for me.

Second, talking about self-regulation. It's quite hard to understand why everybody is so silent? No responce, no comments... Especially, if we are talking about the fact, that D'Sent has taken a break and the new guy has come to our team.

Third, yes, the models. I want to discuss them. I've already showed the way I see how I analyse the old models - and before you come with your ready-to-input models, I'd like to see your analyse of how this and that could be made. And I'd like that all the team discuss it. Tell what do you like, what you don't. Some of you are here like QAs, so why don't you say anything? I don't know modelling - though I'd love to learn it, but time is a question - but you do, so you can judge better.

Forth, about the new guy: well, I'd love to see new comments on his models. He has gone so far that has made almost all the fighter line. Yep, Bigboom99 has little gone too far, as we have already guys who were doing the fighter stuff (Jkberna/Defender & D'Sent/Interceptor) - so he must join their club in discussing what the look of the common parts would be. And well, judging stuff must be applied to him as well.

Fifth, about defender - are you, Jkberna, going to finish it? You may have felt yourself offended with my words about your creation, but you kept silence. The only one who said smth was Pouk... Well, "said" is quite relativistic..
No matter, how overcritisized I am, I still want to hear your opinions. I always ready to look at the situation from the other side. But, of course, it doesn't mean that I will take this side. But ok, don't say anything - and then others for sure will decide instead of you...

Sixth, mb, I must be clear about why I'm so pedantic about the details. Like a proverb says: "Devil hides in details/minor things". The project had been started as an answer to the modelers like Starcream (S553.photobucket.com) and others with their freak-ships, reminding Ripley clones saying "kill me" in Aliens4. But they do look alike classical taiidans in some way. So - do I have to take them, voila, we have taiidans! - ? Yes, it's hard to catch the line, so I want it to be as close as possible to the original. There are doubtful places and you, as an artists can resolve them in your way, but there certain places and you, as the masters, must resolve them in a shown way.
So I always will be cautious about the details. Maybe even some documented standarts could be there, but maybe this could be too far, I don't know. Maybe it would make modeler's life easier knowing that this I should do this way and that - another. Like here is the texture that I can already apply on some areas without waiting for the texturer to come to do all the work. Some manuals for the simpliest works. And so on.

And seventh, not related to the subj, Solid State Hyperspace Induction Module - does this module makes smth to the solid state or the module itself is solid, and what does it means?..

You know I said I have a prediction, that prediction was that Jkberna won't reply and will just dissapear. He's also most likely not going to edit that defender.

Look, I understand your position, I really get it. I'm perfectionalist myself. You want your Taiidans perfect and exact to the original and nothing less could be clasified as Taiidan, so it can't be implemented.
But I also know Jkberna's position, he's technically not making ships for TP, he already had his own project going on at that time and he's basically just sharing models with you that he's making for his own project.
I also know that if you want him to just strictly copy stuff, he's not gonna enjoy it at all.

Given all that I wanted to ballance it out, to find some middle ground between you two, to support model changes that really make sense (the "middle tower") and keep the rest as it is.
To be absolutelly honest, you can't be that strict and risk losing people who already have their own projects going on, it's not like the modding scene is swarming with suitable replacements. Simply put, you as a mod leader should recognize when you can afford to push and when it's rather a risky move. Knowing Jkberna I saw it as risky and that's why I was for a compromise, because that's better than nothing.
I don't know, maybe he's not gone, maybe he'll give you some of his Taiidan models when he's finished with his Kushans, who knows.

AmDDRed, back to you, I have a concern. Honestly it's really great you have a new modeller, there's never too many of them and Bigboom99 has a gallery full of Taiidan fighters. That's nice. But who'll make the textures for his models? You know that one of the thing that killed the "Classical Taiidani remodelling" thread was lack of texturers. Everyone was excited about making the models, but all of them were left untextured. The basic rule in Homeworld modding (that doesn't always apply, just in 99% of cases) is that if a modeller won't texture his own model, no one is ever going to do it for him.

Hmm, I know that downloads in private groups are visible in normal moddb downloads (that's why I upload the mod builds somewhere else and just post the links to the group frontpage).
The fact is that I don't see this news article amongst moddb news, but it might be something simillar.

I guess, I can't do anything with it. )) About your letters: I was thinking quite much about what should be brought to hw2 taiidani and what's not - and your thought reminded me mines, actually. For example, I was thinking of heavy cruiser modification with plasma guns, or like "Heavy Plasma Cruiser" - as of memory of Cata. Also about those Research Station and Nomad Moon - like could they be regular fleet part or not... And the shipyard thing... Yep, it's not yet finished actually - yes, there's basis, but when putting together all the stuff it would need to be rethinked once again. So I decided to leave as much less my thing as possible. Well, Cata names for researches - "adv.drive" fitted perfect, but I'll leave the plasma cruiser as an idea for a further modding after the mod is finally released.
Anyway, if you're great fan of HW and player of HW2, it would be great if you would find some way to improve what I have done for now.

Well, only as workaround with current model. Yes, it could be the solution to our paradox. )
if only Jkberna won't be against now.

Yes, it's truth, so our new guy would have to learn the texturing also... So he'd be the first class modeller ) Anyway, it's best to have smth then nothing.

I currently know how to texture, however I do not know how to use GIMP. I thought I was doing pretty well seeing how I learned to model only a week and a half ago. With that in mind, I am going to be texturing my own models, but I would like to perfect my modelling work first if that is okay.

For the new ships, can we have some amount of difference between the mod and Homeworld 1? As an example, I started to model the missile destroyer and noticed that it doesn't seem to have any bridge, or anything that even resembles one. Should I add one? I was thinking of making on that resembles the Vaygr style bridge. The same can go for frigates too maybe.

Also I apologise for taking the interceptor, I should have noticed someone was working on it already.

Furthermore can I have some of the textures from homeworld 1 and 2? I am having trouble converting them so some usable ones would work wonders. I am thinking of using a modified version of the Vaygr "lights" texture for some areas on capital ships.

My understanding is, about the 7th topic, is from the name it sounds like the hyperspace module is using a solid mass for energy induction, as opposed to a liquid mass. Possibly a very cold superconductor. Of course, I still have not gotten my physics degree so my observation carries no weight; just my best guess.

No, don't add anything new to Missile Destroyer ) With standard destroyer, It's one of the most perfect ships in HW ))) Btw, you do know that there's a very detail concept of missile destroyer? )))

About textures of HW2 - it's hard question, textures of HW1 - maybe I'll get some later, with the receipt of Jkberna )))

I'll reread this discription - I've never been good at high physics ))
