2Awesome Studio is an international games development team and publishing company founded by ex-space engineers David Jimenez and Alejandro Santiago. Based in Spain and The Netherlands, we add awesomeness to reality by making unique and surprising adventures for all types of players. Now preparing for the release of AK-xolotl, and developing Altered Alma!

OUR STORY SO FAR

Back in 2006, David Jimenez and Alejandro Santiago met back in the Netherlands despite being both originally from Barcelona (Spain). While working full time jobs at the European Space Agency as engineers, they yearned for developing video games in their spare time. This was a childhood dream for both of them, and over the years to follow they started developing them separately at first, while coursing different video games related studies on top of their engineering degrees and full time jobs.

David developed Castle Walk, Tyrian Reborn and Super Stick Fighter 2 Turbo and took a special interest in game design with a strong focus on gameplay programming. Alejandro developed UltraMagic Balloons Target, AeonSpace fighters and UOC Race amongst others.

In 2009, David and Alejandro teamed up and started sharing their passion about games development. Later on they started working on Dimension Jumper, an Xbox Live Indie Game using XNA that never made it to market but that served as a stepping stone and background for the future. In January 2013, David and Alejandro started working under the name 2Awesome Studio (even if not set up as a company at that time) and moved from XNA to Unity development.

In January 2014, 2Awesome Studio participated in the Global Game Jam from Amsterdam, where they collaborated with a group of artists and a musician and they developed a 2D platformer titled Kevin. After the Game Jam, some of the team members decided to push forward for 2 or 3 months in order to get a more polished demo (Brushed Away). In parallel, 2Awesome Studio developed Dimension Drive (a follow up of Dimension Jumper). Both Dimension Drive and Brushed Away were praised by the audience when they were showcased at Indievelopment 2014 in Utrecht. As a result, 2Awesome Studio was invited to showcase their games at Indie-Gameleon in Groningen and give a lecture on the process "From Game Jam to Actual Game".

RECENT ACTIVITIES

2Awesome Studio has become a growing development team that published two titles of its own successfully: Dimension Drive and its sequel Aeon Drive. The top-down roguelite shooter AK-xolotl (w/ Playstack) will be their third game, and the most important release for 2Awesome Studio until present day. This long-expected title, set to release on September 14th, 2023, almost won a prize for the Most Entertaining game in Gamescom Awards 2023. In addition to this, the studio is working on Altered Alma (w/ Critical Reflex), a space opera metroidvania with RPG and romance elements, which is set in the same fictional universe as Dimension Drive and Aeon Drive.
