This mod changes weight added to weapons by upgrades.
This mod changes weight added to weapons by upgrades. It doesnt change upgrade kit weight in inventory.
When you upgrade a weapon, it adds weight to the weapon. This mod reduces added weight roughly 1/4 for Russian weapons, and 1/10 for rest. This is because of more develoed gun parts industry in west. Since there is a consumer market there, they do make lightweight titanium or similar alloy parts. Probably lightweight "titanium" sounds weird, but you can actually use less of it since it is more durable, so it doesnt add extra weight and sometimes it is even lighter compared to original part.
I did these changes because it annoyed me deeply that a simple upgrade like non-corrosive paint adds 100-200 grams to a weapon, more than weight of an average smart phone. Those upgrades add up, so a fully upgraded weapon might end up as a 5-7 kg chunk of metal, 1 or 2 kg heavier. And that is before sights, granade launchers and sliencers. Its ridiculous.
Changes are uniform, they dont spesifically take into account upgrade types. In reality, an upgrade for accuracy by chainging the barrel lenth can add considerable weight, while an upgrade changing recoil of an ak platform by modifying the gas piston can be as simple as changing the diameter of a small hole. So each upgrade should have its own weight characteristic, but they dont. To be fair, it is more less the same way in vanilla too, probably because of effort and research required. So, yeah.
-How to Install-
Just drop it into your gamedata folder. If it doesnt work for some reason, here is the directory:
gamedata\configs\items\weapons\upgrades
Create the folder and drop the files I changed into it.
-Compability-
It only changes weapon upgrades, it doesnt change anything else. It will work with other mods as long as they dont change upgrades. So it works with mods like BaS.
I play it for a while, didnt run into any problem. But if you find any, please report.
Feel free to change anytrhing, and you can use it in your addon as you like. Just dont forget to give credit.

Yes, developers are geniuses, you upgraded your gun and its size almost 5-8 KG instead of 3-4! Even light materials can't help it... But with one melee mod it's a good feature: you can do more damage.
Want something funny? A .45 ACP pistol heavier than the Specialty Rifle (AS VAL) . . . Jeez
Yeeah boi, heavy pistol! Haha, time to break some heads by pistol grip.
Heaviness is good. Heaviness is reliable. Even if he doesn't shoot, you can always hit him in the head. boris "the Blade"
Exactly.
Typo in gamedata\configs\items\weapons\upgrades\w_mp5_up.ltx line 19
should: 'inv_weight = +0.005'
actual: '05'
Fixed it, thanks for heads up
And in gamedata\configs\items\weapons\upgrades\w_l85_up.ltx, line 124
should: 'inv_weight = +0.015'
actual: 'inv_weight = +0015'
And in gamedata\configs\items\weapons\upgrades\w_l96a1_up.ltx, line 38
should: 'inv_weight = +0.003'
actual: 'inv_weight = +0003'
(I should have used grep right after first typo was found, for future ref. - `grep -rn 'inv_weight' . | grep -vE ".*= [+-][0-9]\.[0-9]+"`)
Could you please make a version that has the same 1/10 reduction in weight for all weapons? Thanks a lot.
There seem to be conflict with JSRS.
I recently came back to playing Anomaly and installed addons from scratch with MO2. This addon has conflicts with JSRS and Pretty Pistols Pack in my list of ~130 addons. Getting this addon installed before both addons I mentioned earlier didn't make game to crash on starting new playthrough, played a while with it and didn't encounter problems with it so far. So you can give this a try.
This mod is easily adaptible. You need lines "inv_weight = +0.1/+0.05/+0.15/etc" and replace it with "inv_weight = +0" or any other value of your choice in conflicticting files but dont overwrite them with files from this mod cause it contains only vanilla values.
I recommend using notepad++, you can open bunch of those files and replace all repeating lines in them, i reccomend to start with values like 0.05, 0.11-19, 0.21-29 and finish with rounder numbers like 0.1, 0.2 etc and check if it`s done correctly afterwards.
Lol, i just made same tweaks and found that everything already done by you, thank you anyway!
it maybe interesting feature but not in current half-cooked state - my r700 weights almost 8 kg with all upgrades, not even touching weight of pistols, it`s autistic.
