Allows you to talk to every stalker you encounter instead of just the squad leaders! Now you can talk, quest and trade with every single stalker in the zone.
installation: drag and drop gamedata folder into COTZ directory :)
Credits to Dawn/Strider for the original Anomaly version of this addon and Vintar0 for tweaking and uploading the newest version of the Anomaly addon. Moddb.com All I did was port it over to COTZ.
Something to keep in mind is that only squad leaders will be polite enough to stop moving to talk to you. It's best to talk to generic stalkers when they're in a stationary position or if you can position yourself in a spot where they won't get away from you while you're talking to them, lol
Sounds cool, is it balanced though?
balanced? what do you mean?
Probably means whether or not if you can take them with you as a companion like most of the squad leaders without any type of a "cost."
DoCX has it so with "Come with me" request, you can immediately create a large squad of companions, even with you as a rookie commanding NPC elite squad leaders. They join you and you have access to backpack and all their gear. This can be used as an exploit at game start, hence interpreted as "unbalanced."
I do not know if that was DocX intention; as with some other mods, Stalker implementations, etc., "Come with me" type commands were limited to only work if you pay them or outrank them or something, but that is a mod / fix that has yet to be made for DocX CotZ.
I just tested it out with a new mercenary game, couldn't ask any generic allies to come with me. I'm familiar with the game mechanic, and I'm pretty certain I've had to pay people at times for them to accompany me. I only get the option with certain people, I'm not sure what the conditions are.
edit: I'm pretty sure they're basically guaranteed to accept your accompaniment request if you're in the green with them reputation-wise though. and I've had people outright refuse to come with me as well. It's seemingly random(?) whether I'll be able to access their backpack or not once they're a follower.
Whatever the case, I couldn't ask any generic mercenary allies to accompany me, so based off of that experiment, I would say it is "balanced" under that definition.
On Vanilla CotZ, there is a max Squad size of a squad you’re trying to recruit. Any larger and you will not have the option to recruit them unless it is for a Fetch Hidden Item quest. Additionally, squads assigned to base defense will also not join the player’s squad.
Interesting. It's occurred several times where I'll speak to someone while alone and I won't have the option to recruit them, so I'm assuming that's due to the base defense option you spoke of.
Thanks for that, it was my most used addon - way more things to do and it even gave me Svarog way too early, not sure if it was fixed...
Glad to hear it! The moment I saw that this addon existed, I was immediately determined to port it over. It proved to be a lot easier than I expected lol.
I had the same question, for when I was a military rookie, I got that advanced Svarog detector from Sakharov with my very first mission I drew from my commander. Apparently that was a DocX thing.
If the game is played as DocX envisioned, you have a chance of losing that detector in some mugging especially if someone else gets to your guy before you do in a vendetta.
If you save and reload after muggings, yes you keep that Svarog forever.
I'm getting a lot of reports about crashes related to this mod, I believe. Folks are mentioning the game crashing every time they talk to an NPC after a while. Anyone else having this issue?
The error log includes something with the Squad Commander. These reports were from people using Rhons' Static Mod Repack.
Very late reply, but just to put people's minds at ease: I have put many many hours into Rhons' pack, which includes this addon, and have had not a single crash due to this. I think it was something else they must have had installed that caused their crashes.

EDIT: There's that crash people were talking about. xr_meet tried to compare a number to 0 or something, right? This happens on vanilla too, and it's rare. Still haven't figured out what causes it, but it isn't this addon. It's a really nasty bug though, since it blocks progress. You're forced to essentially reset the area.
EDIT2: The crash is caused by something else and it's very rare in vanilla, but this addon makes the crash more likely to occur. It seems every NPC who you can talk to has a chance of triggering this crash (whatever the reason may be), so this addon makes every NPC able to trigger it. But even at 5x the likelihood of the crash happening, it still has only happened to me for two NPCs in many hours of gameplay.
