The thing is... shotguns have tight spread. Most games teach us crap.
Have you ever hunt with buckshot? My grandfader sure did and you can shoot and kill at 25-30m if you are "lucky" and pellets position themselves nicely. All depends on barrel lenght and "on barrel" addons, you have those "duck's beak" ones that modify spread to wide horizontal line for example, i think even Jagged Alliance 2 had those =D If a mod was made to add spread mods IN THE GAME same as scopes or silencers then we would be on right track.
Either way, good every one can adjust their gameplay =)
I agree it kinda makes sense the bandit tower guy in dark valley is able to kill you from 50-70m. But maybe somebody can work it out to allow the spread to be less when mounting a silencer on a saiga f.e.
The hunting shotgun could also have less while the sawed off and short toz versions could have more spread ;)
50-70m ...that's...maybe to "lucky" ?! But on the other hand, let's remember STALKER has not only pellets but also DARTS and SLUGS ...i'm not sure there ware parameters in engine that modify spread according to ammunition...maybe thats why?

Though even a short barrel has enough oomph. A Full Choke would be about 1 meter at about 50 meters. The patterns vary depending on how lose the shot barrel is and also on who makes the choke.
One type of choke was used in Vietnam. I cant recall exact name but I think, Duck Bill Choke. This created a very wide pattern.

As for berrels, i saw-off will have MUCH greater spread than Hunting Toz ...barrel lenght DO matter...always. Choke is more about "pattern" control, should pellets fly in random sphere or like in mentioned case...as wide "dead space plasma beam" pattern.
We can assume that there is no choke or bore sized choke because we can shoot slugs out of them.
Imo would be great to increase overall accuracy of shotguns and increase spread with k_disp on buck. So slugs are still snipy at some 200m, but not with buckshot. But that's up to each person because x-ray units in game hardly resemble meters, at least that what it seems to me.

I feel that if i install this addon, all the bandits will onshot me from 10m
