A quick workaround for the `ui_options.script:756: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'w' (a nil value)` crash - PLEASE read the readme if you don't use or play in 1920x1080!
I made this for a really specific issue that was happening in 2020, I have no idea if this would help anything at all in 2023 (or 2024) and the issue I was originally having has long been fixed, this probably won't help with any of your linux/steamdeck issues unfortunately
PLEASE read the readme if you don't use or play in 1920x1080! you must set the width and height of your resolution near the top of ui_options! even if you play 1920x1080 you should still check!
This is a quick and dirty workaround for the settings menu crash similar to:
ui_options.script:756: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'w' (a nil value)
this adds a 'default' or fallback resolution, so that even if the resolutions can't be found the settings menu will still load and everything should run fine using the fallback resolution set near the top of ui_options.script
works perfectly fine for me, but this is a pretty dirty fix, it shouldn't do anything worse than crash (which was already happening) but I can't guarantee anything

Is this a fix for the game crashing every time you change a single setting or something else entirely?
if you get the crash that looks like this:

it should fix it, I've had it on the main menu and when opening settings mid game, it only seems to happen when actually clicking the settings button, so if your crash is different it probably won't help, sorry

I get the same error after applying the patch on Linux and pressing the Settings button on the main menu.
Has anyone found a fix for this? I'm trying to play it on the steam deck as people have on YouTube, but it crashes everytime I click settings even though I set the resolution to 1280x800.
