Now with custom weathers. Check description for installation guide and screenshots. NEW UPDATE. VERSION 1.6.
The Roadside is a highly cinematic reshade that makes heavy use of light, shadow and visual effects. While it stays in its own range of balance, if you value clarity of detail in your visuals, it is probably not for you. This preset is designed to work with Anomaly 1.5.1, but it will work on older builds and even when installed on other games.
Insertion notice: It is recommended to wake up at 7 AM as otherwise you'll be missing out on some sweet custom sunrises. I also recommend installing OPFOR HUD as it works really well with this reshade.
This installation guide will walk you through the setup procedure for this reshade to work.
WHAT'S NEW IN 1.6?:
The preset has been rebuilt from scratch that now eliminates some of the shortcomings of the original. It uses a different, and superior, tonemapper, whereas the old one used a double tonemapper hdr, uses multieffect files instead of separate dedicated effects, new very clean lens flares, and a different color scheme that has a much cleaner profile. All of this results in a much more better looking and optimized for performance preset. The new tonemapper also brightens the ui better, so there's no more issue seeing things clearly when trading / inventory managing.
ATTENTION: THIS PRESET OVERHAULS THE WEATHER PRESETS FOR A SIGNIFICANT VISUAL BALANCING OF THE PICTURE. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER WEATHER PRESETS ALREADY INSTALLED THEY WILL CONFLICT WITH THE INTENDED LOOK OF THIS RESHADE. CREATE BACKUP AND THEN DELETE THE ENVIRONMENT FOLDER IN GAMEDATA/CONFIGS/.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a heavy duty reshade preset that messes a lot with in-game lighting. As such, it replaces the user.ltx that contains in-game lighting settings. If you're an advanced user, you can copy-over the needed lighting parameters from those included in the readme file. But really replacing the user.ltx will at the very worst simply change some of the keybindings that you'll just have to reassign back.
INSTALLATION GUIDE:
There was an incredibly drawn-out installation guide but now it's all gone because installing this preset is now 10x easier. All you need to do is to drop the contents of the "RoadsideReshade" folder into your anomaly root directory! However, there are several important things to take note:
IF YOU HAVE ANY ALREADY INSTALLED WEATHER, LIGHTING, SHADER ADDONS THERE WILL MOST LIKELY BE INCOMPATIBILITIES AND CRASHES TO DESKTOP. THIS PRESET IS DESIGNED TO WORK WITH ANOMALY INSTALLATIONS THAT DO NOT TWEAK WEATHER, SHADERS OR LIGHTING. NORMALLY IT IS ENOUGH TO LOCATE YOUR "ENVIRONMENT" FOLDER IN GAMEDATA/CONFIGS/ AND RENAME IT "OLDENVIRONMENT". THIS WILL BOTH GENERATE A BACKUP AND CLEAN UP THE DIRECTORY FOR ROADSIDE'S WEATHERS.
It is IMPORTANT that you have the performance mode enabled while running this preset. Press HOME button and the performance mode tickbox will be at the very bottom right of the Reshade's GUI.
It is IMPORTANT to copy over the contents of the "Gamedata" folder into the root directory. Inside there are custom weather presets without which various places and times of day would look too bright, too dark, or otherwise out of visual balance. If you have any other weather addons already installed, it is recommended to head to gamedata/configs/and rename "environment" as something else, for example "oldenvironment", "backupenvironment".
IF YOU FIND THE BLOOM SETTINGS TOO INTENSE:
Disable these effects, and it will reduce the bloom effect from this reshade by 75%. There is a patch included in the zip that lessens the bloom effect. Maybe try that first.
IF YOU WANT TO DELETE THE JJ ABRAMS LENS FLARES:
Delete gamedata/configs/environment/suns.ltx and gamedata/textures/fx folder.
MOAR SCREENSHOTS:
Changelog:
Version 1.1: Introduced custom weather presets intended to balance out the visual output and keep it from going too dark/bright.
Version 1.2: Overhauled the weather presets yielding a significant improvement in visual balance. Removed lens dirt to further the clarity of the picture.
Version 1.2.1: Reintroduced lens dirt but a much better and much more naturalistic version. Fixed lens flares in the google drive link (it was actually an old version where the lenticular halo would linger on your screen like a crescent moon.) Fixed Prozhora's HUD for whatever reason not working when installed.
Version 1.2.2: Weather presets are brightened up again.
Version 1.3: Weather presets are overhauled... Again. And probably once again in the future. Anamorphic flares are now a part of the reshade itself. Added a CiNeMaTiC letterbox. Prozhora's HUD icons are now higher as to not be occluded by the letterbox.
Version 1.3 Hotfix 1: fixed disappearance of sun during sunrise section of Cloudy1
Version 1.3 Hotfix 2: Weird sun behavior at sunrise of Cloudy 1 is gone for good. Small tweaks to post processing and user.ltx improve the appearance of shadows, they are less intense. Super-fast cloud movement speed of Rain 3 at around 10 AM has been fixed.
Version 1.4: The preset now uses Prod80's Highlight pass at no performance cost (it was already there, just its opacity was set to 0) to shave off pixels going into extreme brightness. It eliminates strange visuals like your sky being completely white with blinding lens dirt for good. The reshade's baseline brightness is not affected. It means that some visuals will not get too bright, but the reshade itself did not get more dark.
Version 1.5: Tweaks to the core color-grading setup. Tweaks to the weathers, primarily cloudy and rainy. Comes with a brighter and cleaner version of UIM. Included BAS-compatible icons that are also bright and noticeable now. Included addons into the main archive. Split the Reshade into two editions, Complete (with addons installed), and Reshade Only.
Version 1.6: Remade from scratch. New tonemapper, new color-grading, new flares, optimization tweaks. Yeeted the letterbox. ADDED: A very quick fix that moves the rainbow flare out of the way.

This looks great but the inventory/menus are transparent and very hard to see (its especially hard to see the items in the inventory)...
Yep DepthHaze.fx is a bane and benefit for this preset. Look at the ground when in inventory and pretend you're unzipping your backpack.
Oh man....tHe Blo000mm....myyy eeeeeeYYEesss!!
hahahaha :D Love it j_dude! :D
Great job!
I cant seem to find the shader texture file? everything else seems to be in order, but i have no idea where the textures are. im really looking forward to getting this to work as its beautiful!
The textures folder is straight next to the shaders folder.
ohh so many things to make this to work...you dont have a easy way to have this beautiful reshade?
Unfortunately. This is a heavy duty reshade, it messes with so much. I'm afraid there's no way to make it any easier to install.
maybe to make a torrent link with the vanilla game and reshade installed only
Any chance for short video demonstration? Cheers
I really like it. thank you.
What do you suggest for color banding that comes with vignette ? I tried deband with iteration 3 but I feel like it kills a bit too much of the details in general; same goes for film grain but that way it adds too much visual noise.
There's color-banding? Just move the vignette up and down, but tell me when it doesn't band, I'll update the preset.
how much performance hit?
Believe it or not it's performance friendly.
ill give it a try!
Loading vignette before Prod's Color Grading got rid of the color banding, there are minor bandings with both blooms but they're fine; not as distracting. Thanks again for the preset and weather configs.
I like the look of this a lot, but why does it make flashlights so dim? And is the sky supposed to be bright while it is night time?
Aren't they dim by default? I'll put in a file to make them brighter. Also I believe there are settings in Anomaly that tweak the brightness of nights.

[error]Description : fatal error
[error]Arguments : Can't open section 'collection_default'. Please attach [*.ini_log] file to your bug report
Can you send a full log please?
Edit: It looks like you have installed other weather mods before, this thing is notoriously incompatible with anything that has to do with lighting and weathers. Try to put this in gamedata/configs/environment
Drive.google.com
Can't open section 'collection_medium'. Same place.
I looked through my unpacked config files and I don't think there's such a thing as collection_medium (it's for thunderbolts). You're definitely running some weather mods. Try to delete the weather folder altogether in gamedata/configs/environment and replace it with what's in the downloaded archive. (roadsidereshade.zip)
I think it's a conflict with Soundscape Overhaul
Im getting this error now too. However, before this update I had the older version with soundscape and there wasn't an issue.
Edit: Hey guys so I just deleted everything in the gamedata/configs/environment folder, verify check, then replaced everything again. I hope this helps.
Stereo thunder (optional) of SCO conflicts, since it edits two weather types. That was my issue before.
Did you find a way to make that compatible with SCO ?
Either NOT installing those optional storm sounds in SCO or merging w_storm1.ltx and w_storm2.ltx (a couple of minute of work with WinMerge). I think it were those two configs, I haven't touched the game in a while I must say.
Is it really too dark ingame?
Really enjoying this dude! Giving me the heebies I was looking for.
Also I was wondering what governs the sort of bright horizontal line that can appear when looking at bright things (like the sky or some light sources).
It's depthhaze.fx. It doesn't always work, but when it does it really enhances the picture.
hell yeah
It looks great for exteriors but interiors are pretty much pitch black on my end sadly, althought it was probably my fault lel.
Also I get Demo appearing on my HUD how can I remove it?
You're probably in debug mode. Its disabled in the launcher
I don't understand the installation guide it just doesn't make sense. Where do I sort the effect files? Where do I disable them? Where do I click "Performance Mode"? I don't know what psychic you think I am but well, I am not

He edited it out the long explain because now it's as simple as installing reshade (it's called Roadside RESHADE) and dropping in his files. If you don't know how to use reshade, that's a common and basic modding thing to look up and understand.
Hi i installed this reshade launch the game and it's working but its to dark with this reshade then i delete this reshade and delete the gamedata/configs/environment/weathers files. And reinstalled the reshade but then game just crashes with no error,i put the files back in game and it's working. Did i do something wrong?
I'm not sure. It could be a number of reasons. Especially if you've installed weather mods before. If your game crashes then in general the reason why is written in appdata/logs/xray_user. The reshade is so dark because I kept getting feedback that it is a cataract simulator and there's blinding light everywhere, so I darkened the preset into oblivion. However I myself am not really enjoying it now so I will be rolling out an update that makes it brighter again.
Okay thanks for the reply, well then i'm waiting for the update )
In the pictures, what settings of the game are, for example, Gamma, Intensity, brightness, etc. can you tell?
Gamma 1, Brightness 1, Saturation 1.
Awesome. Now it only needs some cinematic DOF :)
Any tips for the inventory screens? Any darker icon is hardly noticeable. Items like scopes and suppressors totally blend into the dark background.
Great reshade preset nevertheless!
Look at ground, pretend its Metro Exodus and you're opening your backpack lul
Heh, yeah, I already do.
But that doesn't work with traders of course: Drive.google.com
I'm actually planning to roll out my custom user interface for this reshade. Like UIM, but custom.
Sweet! Can't wait
Hi me again now i installed this hotfix but game crashes no error.
How to fix it?
When i use yours weather files game crashes but when i put back the old files it's working.
Did you already have a weather folder before installation? Any other weather mods are going to cause compatibility issues. Rename your weather folder something like WeatherOLD and create a new Weather folder which is just what's in the archive. Should work.
Oh finaly its working thank you for help )

Hi, I posted the previous comment on a guest account above^ please disregard I got it to work!
It looks really good, although, when it is night time the sky is completely white. Do you know why that may be?
Cheers
That's definitely not this reshade. There's white haze on the ground from depthhaze.fx but the sky isn't white. I've no idea what that is.
Edit: Ah okay it's depthhaze.fx. Like I said in another post, this effect doesn't always work, but when turned off it really takes away from the picture.
Yeah thats the main problem with this reshade for me which is the sky being white at night time.
Gotta wait till 1.6 when they implement in-engine volumetric fog. Then there will be no need for depthhaze. (Not a big fan of its shortcomings myself.)
