Ever wanted to respawn after death? - Then this addon is for you...
With this addon installed, instead of loading a save file after death, you respawn having lost everything but your wallet and your PDA (and important quest items and your knife)...
Creating a stash is now more important than ever - so you can re-equip youself.
Respawn Mode 1.0.3 introduces a new feature: the "Secure container"... Items stored in this inventory container (max. 2kg) won't be lost upon death (requires a new game!). Open this container by right-clicking it from within your inventory.
Where you respawn depends on your faction:

I've actually thought of this idea in the past especially regarding some stories I have written regarding this Universe... It's a cool concept and I love the fact you lose your items... I don't assume you lose any stashes you had? Either way, I'll probably try it out soon!
Yep, the "world" stays the same.. So your stashes won't disappeare.
I kind of thought so... Anyhow, I love the concept behind it!
This sounds nice can you find your body and take your stuff back?
Yeah, you can make stashes and restock your gear when you respawn.
I'm going to add the possibility of finding your dead body and looting it, in the next few days...
... Now you can
Damn, I've actually discussed this idea on Anomaly's discord a couple weeks ago, like an experience similar to Escape From Tarkov, this will actually make the high-end gear so much less OP because of the risk factor included, love it
...and I think it makes you much more immersed in the game
Look like a Tarkov?
i dont understand. dont we already respawn? just load save file
loading a save and respawning are two different things
i dont know if its because of this mod but after several deaths swamp doctor doesnt allow to talk to him - there is no F option
my mod doesn't alter anything related to that, so I think it's something else causing this bug...
Are you unable to talk to any character?
Make a quicksave when facing him then reload and quickly press f to engage in conversation with him. I've had this issue before any mods installed its because his interaction space is a bit bugged when sitting by the campfire so when you reload he spawns not sitting down
If possible, would you consider adding a variant of this mod to base Call of Chernobyl?
I guess it would be possible, but since I don't play CoC and don't have that much time, I don't think so.
English is not my native language, so there´s that. sorry.
I feel good vibes for this addon. i guess is the thought of some kind of been recued and brought back to a home base or faction base, in wich case you won`t need a corpse to loot, just a stash, maybe on the site of your fall (death) or some enemie base.
Most excelent work, my dude
Seems to not be working after the recent hotfix? I get a xray crash with no log.
You're right, thanks for pointing that out.
Now it works
can we make a versi
on that is total wipe? no quests, nothing. even reputation
you can just start a new game
just play ironman :)
Excellent mod. I think it strikes the best balance between heavily punishing death without the risk of erasing an entire playthrough. It would be neat if you could somehow change the spawn point in-game, so that you could respawn in a hideout that you personally set up shop in (like the tower in rostok or the room under the flea market).
The only bug I've noticed is that when you die and return to your corpse in another area, your armor, your components, and items with batteries return to 100% condition. Weapons keep their condition.
I believe this is part of Anomaly. I've never charged my PDA or RF receiver, but they keep self-recharging without this mod.
:)
I will try to to add the option to change the respawn point in the next version (Great idea).
I will do some research on that bug (but I think, as Daniel_stark said, this is related to Anomaly itself).
I am really eager for this update! I play as a loner so its a pain to start at sidorovichm, when the more likely places to actually die are on the other side of the map. If setting up a respawn point was costly or difficult, that would be good though, otherwise its pretty much just an f5 quicksave in disguise. Perhaps you pay a trader for the service? Therefore the locations would be limited to friendly bases.
This mod + bandit/monolith + living zone + max difficulty = the ultimate masochist experience.
This is a fantastic alternative to ironman. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm glad you're enjoying my mod :)
pls make it possible to respawn in the last campfire you visit
Is noted.
24. Если репутация GG плохая-группы посылают несколько юнитов убивать GG, когда репутация GG плохая и хуже, из ранга " профессионал" - можно ли сделать отдельным модом?
Sorry, I don't speak russian :(
(Я не говорю по-русски)
я говорю, но я нихуя не понял xD
one question, can npc's loot my corpse?
Yes
This is awesome. I always loved the idea of death being more of a punishment than an inconvenience. Curious how this would work with the First Person Death mod? It breaks Ironman Mode so i think it may break any mod that uses the players death event.
Either eay i love the corpse mechanic, especially since id assume its trested as a normal containter that AI stalkers can loot as well?
Awesome idea, and appreciate you making this.
:)
The animations the "First Person Death" mod uses are already present in vanilla Anomaly, so I just used them in my mod as well... -> So the death animation in my mod and in the "First Person Death" mod is pretty much the same (installing this mod too is redundant and would break the game).
Yep, your corpse can be looted by other stalkers.
Hey, would it be possible to make a version where instead of losing your gear, you lose a % of your money ?
For instance, you respawn and say you lose 8%, 12%, 20% of your total wealth depending on which difficulty you are on. I'd even be happy with a fixed option if that is too much work. Cheers.
I mean, there is actually a thing that when you die, you loose your ammo, and at least one of your weapons gets completely damaged, and that can cost a lot to repair. So there is punishment already, you don't just go and pick your stuff up where you left it like nothing happened.
Yeah, but for those of us playing with increased spawn mods on highest difficulty, death occurs often. So losing gear is a bit too much.
At least if you lost just money, you would have a means to continue on to try and earn more.
that would be totally possible but I think its better if you loose your gear
It would be really awesome for me personally as I have modded the economy to be quite brutal. Can't really afford to replace an 800k armor or 300k weapon every time I die. And with my mod settings, I die a lot.
If it's not too much trouble, could you possibly tell me the code I would need to add to achieve this ?
As other post mentioned, if possible to make respawn happen in a random location that would just be it! Like the zone picked your corpse up and is having a joke on you.
I have a hording problem LOL, so always end up with too much stuff stashed away, a favourite old weapon, one of each gun... So this mod will 'facilitate' and enable my habit just fine. Many many thanks, S!
:) it would sure be possible but VERY time consuming...
I would have to manually set each of these "random" locations.
Good job!
Thanks :)
btw, does quest items left on body or in respawned actors inventory?
quest items are treated like every other item
>> releaed version 1.0.2
see changelog for changes
"removed corpse creation"
So in the newest version it won't be possible to find your own body anymore?
Yes, I think it's more immersive/ lore-friendly
(and the corpse mechanic was a bit buggy)
Yeah, I noticed that sometimes if I died, the body was not there so I see why.
thats normal it despawns after some time like every other corpse...
The problem was:
> item condition
> item addons/ upgrades
That's true, that was another weird thing, that amount of items and weapon conditions/equipment got randomized upon death.
