This mod replaces the weapon names in Shadow of Chernobyl to match their real-world counterparts. Supported languages are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish and Czech. Includes a patch for Zone Reclamation Project's real weapon names addon which patches over the leftover original gun names.
I also took a few notes from supplmentary materials, some texture and leftover files aswell as pre-release versions where the weapon names have their real-life weapons intact (e.g when you talk with Voronin for a task to get the RG-6/Bulldog 6 from Freedom, one of Voronin's lines still refer the launcher as RG-6 and the ammo box texture s which all refer the weapons by their real-life names).
In one of the pictures on the manual, you can see the SVD is referred to as by its real-life designation, along with its full name. In the pre-release versions for the game, some weapon has different texture design closer to the real life weapon designs and some is the same texture but with actual company markers.
All the aforementioned stuff along with the weapons using to have actual real-life weapon trademark markings heavily supports the weapons were going to have real-life names at early points besides from game files before they were altered.
Update:
Fixed an editing bug making the 9x18mm +P+ rounds name and description broken.
Update 2:
Added support for Russian language, changed TOS-34/66 to TOZ-34/66.
Update 3:
Changed and tweaked a bunch of weapon names, some of which are based on ammo box textures.
Update 4:
Added a patch for the Zone Reclamation Project.
Its so nice to play with guns with real names :)
Usually, this is the first modification that stalker fans make.
Yeah, I know these kind of mods are done frequently, but I wanted mine to be unique from similar mods with multilingual support and changing mentions of weapons outside of item names and descriptions, something that other mods like this don't usually do.
How do i add on the mod, i extracted it and i have no clue now?
Go to the game files, open fsgame.ltx with Notepad. Change this:
$game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata
Change the "false" part to "true".
Save the file. After that, copy this mod's contents to the game files.
