This is my personal addon for "Karnage: Legacy Edition" (Alpha) mod.
For make this thing work you must load both original mod and my personal addon. Expect some unpolishness, since I had to read codebase of other mod creator in a way to understand, how I can tweak it for my personal preferences. For detailed log see below.
First of all, I am not claiming any rights to original "Karnage: Legacy Edition" (Alpha) mod.
This thing is just my own personal addon that only changing some parts of code a bit, because I felt that some things (like damage RNG or weapon slots with dropped ammo) wasn't right.
Current release dated by 2023-04-24.
Revamped Slots
- Now MP55 SMG is on slot #4 along with SS-VX AR.
- PA GL now on slot #5 as representative of explosive weapon.
- M08 Plasma Stinger now on slot #6, since it is usual slot for vanilla's plastma rifle.
- RPG-7 now on slot #7 as representative of BFG-9000, the ultimate WMD.
Altered LoadOut
- Player now has portable medkit in his inventory, so on the spot of chainsaw there is always gonna be that cute Revolver.
- MP55 are in the pockets of player too, so there is no need in having this weapon to be in the dropped items anymore.
- Now on spot of SSG there is always gonna be only RainMaker.
- And on the spot of ChainGun there is gonna be only SS-VX AR.
Tweaked Damage
- Random factor was removed where it was possible for more fair balance for player.
- Melee was changed: Punch deals 10 DMG, kick deals 20 DMG and knife deals 30 DMG. With berserk combo is: 25 DMG, 25 DMG, 60DMG and 40 DMG. It is not that OP, but can be good to deal with weaklings and Pinkies.
- G2 Handgun deals 15 DMG. Good to deal with weaklings.
- Revolver deals 60 DMG now instead of 50 DMG, so enjoy 1-shoting Imps, I guess.
- Action Shotgun 10x12 damage per shot, since it is a maxed out random DMG from Vanilla's shotgun. Gonna be nice to use.
- RainMaker deals 10x8 damage. Not sure about this one, since it still feels kinda weak. I may buff it up in some ways.
- MP55 deals 10 DMG, but it is really fast in comparison with G2 Handgun. Good to deal with hordes of weaklings.
- SS-VX deals 20 DMG and considering as really fine gun for deal with enemies that can be considered as though.
- PA GL deals 400 damage, radius is 192, max damage at 64.
- M08 Plasma Stinger deals 30 damage with projectile and somewhat more damage in its flamethrower mode. As backlash, player is able to damage himself and range of that mode is kinda short. It is also good for weaklings.
- RPG-7 deals 1000 damage, radius is 160, max damage at 128.
- Both explosives like that, since they both have lesser amount of maximum
ammunition that Vanilla's RL. 50 grenades and 10 rockets, so I was in need to
make these beasts as deadly as possible to not break balance very hard.
Messed Up Ammo
- Instead of G2 Handgun there is just Vanilla's "Clip", since its picking up state just doesn't worked for me for some reasons. Not big loss, since not that many enemy packs for (G)ZDoom has "Pistol" as dropped item.
- Dropped "Clip" now can give ammo for pistol/SMG, AR and Revolver with even chance.
- "ClipBox" now have only one replacement with big box of ammo that giving 2 mags for SMG, 2 mags for AR and 2 mags for Revolver. Now there is no need in big packs of bullets for pistol/SMG or AR, since there is no use for it now.
- Tweaked some of dropped ammo. As example, ammo for PA GL now is gaining not as 4 grenades, but as 5. Max amount of RPG-7 rockets was 6 -> 8, but now it is 5 -> 10.
- Shells and cells wasn't touched, since all OK here (I think). Still not sure what to do with RPG-7 in slot #7, because it requires explosive ammo instead of cells. I might need to replace cells with cells & PG-7V rockets or so.
Changed Visuals
- M08 Plasma Stinger's projectiles has smaller fire sprite on collision along with smaller shockwave, since it was a way too big (IMHO).
- Some of level's debris, weapon's casings and projectile's scorches are now gonna stay forever due to having "+NoInteraction" flag in them that not gonna burn potatoe PC on WADs like "Nuts".
- Empty shells now emitting proper "hollow" sound instead of ringing one.
- RainMaker and Revolver is ejecting empty shells and casings after shooting. I came up with this idea, because after reloading none of them is ejecting empty shells and casings, so my conclusion was that they are must eject these things after shooting then, if there is nothing while reloading.
And, as for now, here is some of my planes for future update of this addon:
- Increase DMG of RainMaker. Not sure if it is a good idea or not...
- Fix sound of picking up the weapons, since it has wrong sound of picking up item.
- Fix scoping of PA GL and SS-VX, since it is alerting all monsters on the map.
- Add replacement for usual cell ammunition, so player can have RPG-7 ammo from them.
- Replace sprite of PA GL ammo, so it can have 5 grenades.
- Also fix sound of picking up "ClipBox" replacement.
- Add unique empty mags for MP55 and SS-VX.
- Make new "BulletPuff" independent, so it not gonna replaced default one. It may be crucial for some enemy packs.
- Add bass sound for far explosions of grenades and rockets.
