It tweaks and fixes a couple of things (based on the MrSeyker's adapted files for ZRP 1.07 R5RC).
InGameCC mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
For this mini-update, I made some personal tweaks and fixes to things related to the subs and other things shown/described below. This mini-update is based on the MrSeyker's adapted files for ZRP 1.07 R5RC and the InGameCC mod.
I'm working on adjusting the right NPC icons when the PDA gets a message from them and adding the English entries to the English sounds that don't have subs or a PDA message too.
Additionally, to enhance immersion, I'd like to add English and Russian subs to the military radio communications that occur in Pripyat and the CNPP at the end of the game.
Notes:
1. Install instructions and additional comments in the Instructions_and_Additional_Notes.txt file.
2. You can update this addon safely, a new game isn't necessary or needed.
3. I made some changes to SoundManagement.cfg (NPC Chatter Control) for the ZRP Modifier to optimize functionality and minimize potential user conflicts.
4. I recommend getting used to closing the inventory menu with the "F or I" instead of "ESC", this way, you aren't going to miss some subs on the HUD. For example, if you press "ESC" while you're in the Vasiliev's inventory menu, you may lose the subs accidentally (but not the PDA entry).
5. There are times when PDA messages exist in the mod files, but the game doesn't display them on the HUD, and I don't know why. Anyway, they are still shown in the PDA messages section.
6. I'd like to tweak and fix some things, but they are hardcoded in the game, so there is no way to change them with the vanilla engine.
For example, the C-Consciousness workaround to display its subs in the Monolith Control Center, or subs for the cutscenes, without needing to modify the original .ogm files.
7. Because I added a couple of new entries to the following XML files (string_table_tips_garbage.xml, stable_closecaption.xml), the addon has lost compatibility with other previous XML files from other languages that are compatible with it. If you know how to merge XML files, it's not that hard to fix it on your own. In any case, if you speak Russian, I provided the patched Russian XML files.
8. If you're using the MrSeyker's adaptation in some mod, and you want to overwrite it with this addon to update it, it maybe won't work out because I made some changes to the code.
9. Beginner programmer and modder here. While this is my first addon for Shadow of Chernobyl, I've checked that all the new changes work and are compatible properly.
TODO:
- Try to release a vanilla version with the enhancements for the original InGameCC mod.
- Polish text appearance of radio military communications. It's mainly to differentiate the military units in-game a little better.
- There are still 11 radio military communications at CNPP that need to be transcribed and translated.
- Translate and add subtitles to the alarm sounds at the military checkpoint, if possible.
Final Results:
Before/After.
Military radio communications at CNPP. (WIP).
Final dialogue with C-Consciousness. Before/After.

Changelog:
v0.4 - 05/05/2024
- Addressed two typos in the English text files (Thanks to Krongfah, they could have been passed unnoticed).
- Updated two text entries in the Russian text files.
- Re-enabled three PDA messages (aes_blowout_*.ogg files).
- Translated and subtitled radio military communications at Pripyat.
- Translated and subtitled 85% of radio military communications at CNPP.
v0.3 - 03/07/2024
- Replaced English audio files for streamlined military radio communications at CNPP in Russian (aes_blowout_*.ogg files).
- Disabled three English PDA messages temporarily (aes_blowout_*.ogg files).
- Updated icon for some NPCs' PDA messages: P.I. Kalugin, Professor Kruglov, Vasiliev and Ukrainian military units.
- Improved PDA icon's appearance to look more vanilla (scanline effect).
- Updated two text entries: Seriy's victory line and one from the wounded stalker at Garbage.
- Translated and retranslated five text entries from English to Russian temporarily.
v0.2 - 01/22/2024
- Removed carbody_new_16.xml and actor_statistic.xml files. These files were previously included by mistake during the release script generation.
v0.1 - 12/17/2023
- Deleted the sightly outlined fonts to have only the vanilla fonts.
- Adjusted the x and y value of the subs in the XML files to make them a little higher on the HUD.
- Adjusted the font value of some subs in the XML files to make them a little clearer on the HUD.
- Used ZRP's carbody_new_16.xml and actor_statistic.xml instead of the MrSeyker's compatibility patch files (The first one fixes some incorrect things on the HUD, and I feel the second one is more consistent for the game).
- Removed non-alphanumeric characters from stable_closecaption.xml (they're displayed on GNU/Linux).
- Added correct or missing icon for Wolfhound, Vasiliev, Ghost, Cap, P.I. Kalugin, Bes, Seriy, Warrant officer, General Voronin, Fanatic, Max and C-Consciousness (it's when you get a PDA message from them).
- Added new text entry for Seriy (it replaces the repeated line that shares with Bes, probably a dev oversight).
- Fixed incorrect icon for Sidorovich's two messages, Wounded Stalker's one message, Warrant Officer's three messages, Skull's three messages, Cap's one message, and Max's one message.
- Added PDA message to a monolithian's audio that is played when the Brain Scorcher is turned off.
- Increased more delay in bun_deactivate_radar.ltx to show the subs correctly with more time on HUD.
- Added missing icon for some NPCs' messages: Skull in the Army Warehouses, Wounded Stalker in Garbage, Wounded Stalker in Dark Valley, Stalker from the Gauss rifle, Mercenaries in Wild Territory, Expert Stalkers in Pripyat, and Militaries in CNPP.
- Adjusted Monolith voice in Sarcophagus. The Russian and English audios are mixed in the compatibility patch, so I set only the English voice by default. (Provided a mini optional for it if you only want to use the Russian voice).
- Tweaked the appearance of C-Consciousness’ final dialogue.

Great work! Was looking for an updated subtitle mod for the vanilla experience for a long time.
One issue I do notice though is in some dialogues, like Duty's announcement in the bar, the word "paid" is written as "payed", which is wrong. "Payed" means something else, it should be "paid". I think this is a mistake from the original IngameCC mod.
Great catch on the typo. You're absolutely right about the "payed" mistake in some dialogues. This was carried over from the original InGameCC mod.
I truly appreciate you pointing it out. Your desire for an updated subtitle mod for the vanilla experience is exactly what motivated me to create this one.
Proofreading is a task that requires dedication, especially for a non-native speaker like myself. This is why I initially prioritized the Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat InGameSubs mini-addons, where I could ensure a more thorough proofreading process.
While I planned to address Shadow of Chernobyl's proofreading later, the project is currently on hold.
As I'm currently seeking a Russian/English speaker to join the project and assist with proofreading, transcription, and translation.
The good news is that a head start is available. The CNPP radio communications are already translated on YouTube, and the corresponding Russian transcripts can be found on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Wiki: Zone Chronicles.
This means the primary focus would be on compiling these existing resources, performing a final review for accuracy, and ensuring a cohesive experience.
You're doing God's work, my friend. Keep up the great work, I'll keep my eyes out for any potential errors and let you know if I find any.
Thank you for the kind words. I truly appreciate you letting me know about any typos you encounter.
