What does "inventory.althudic" do anyway?
Inventory.AltHUDIcon allows certain add-ons or HUDs to display the weapon icon properly, such as the universal weapon/inventory wheel/selection add-on Gearbox.

But what about the bad side? I'm also confused why people want to remove it like this mod tries to?

Ah got it, so it can crash the game (possibly due to older version of GZDoom or using another sourceport I imagine). Thank you.
