Allows the Pistol, knife and binoculars to go in both the knife and binoculars slot.
High Compatibility
The change is done via script that means this mod will be compatible with all weapon mods with no need to patch.
However it does require modifications to 2 .xml files. If those files conflict with something, most likely a sorting tabs mod or similar, the portions of my xmls that need to be merged into the other mods xml are very short, delineated with comments and start at line 143.

I do not think so. it is not a slot for active items. Does not go in hands.
maybe something like helmet in headlamp. get extra armor. But i do not know if it the game will look there for those statistics.

No. Not at all.
Go to your directory Anomaly U4H8, gamedata > configs > items > weapons, find m_knife, find "slot" there must be 0. Set this value to 4.

Been using this since it came out, its realy nice to have and it was something that was missing in ANomaly that I liked in dead air (the ability to have 2 primary weapons, a pistol, and a knife).
To be honest, I barely even use binocs since I tend to go for scoped rifles and use the scope on them to survey the area for hostiles and mutants.
can i modify it to be detector slot instead?
open the script. you will see lists numbers in {} to the right of those lists is the name of the affected item. For the items you want to add to the detector slot add a ,9 to the list of numbers in the {}.
I do not think any xml changes will be necessary, but won't promise that this change will work either.
maybe I will make a version of this that opens up all the small slots for small items, binoc, knife, pistol, bolt, grenade, detector. Be nice to not need to chose between geiger/radio/detector for instance.
im using the muh immersion mod pack and this isnt working, which mods could be messing with this
muh immersion is't updated for RC18/19/21/22 yet. This mod will not work with U4H8 at all. U4H8 is the version of anomaly downloaded from ModDB.
On RC18+
If it is crashing when you put a weapon in the binoc slot, it is the xml file needing to be merged.
Does it work with some weapons but not others? that might be a problem with the weapon files calling for the wrong slot.
I put the mod in with the current version of the anomaly mod here but it doesnt let me put a knife or pistol in the binoc slot, do i need to configure something in the files for it to take effect?

Is there a way to have it not play the pistol slide racking sound effect when equiping what's in the bino slot?

I updated to the newest build RC23 and it doesn't happen. Must've been a RC19 thing.

Using 1.5.1 I had a crash when right clicking a pistol in my main weapon slot whilst in the barter menu, seems like this was the only mod to affect that particular file.

if so does it still happen with this mod removed? (make sure you don't have any thing in the binoc slot before removing this mod)

played this in anomaly 1.5.1 and it works
now my loadout is knife in binocular slot
and binocular in my bolt slot (the icon kinda janky cuz the slot is small)
to enable binoc on bolt slot, you have to modify the binoc_pistol_knife.script
just change line 26 from this:
[5] = {5,1}, -- Binoculars - add knife slot as valid destination
to this:
[5] = {5,1,6}, -- Binoculars - add knife and bolt slot as valid destination
i tried to register it in detector slot but it doesn't work
maybe because binocular and bolt is classified as weapon or something ?
Yes, bolt and binoc are weapons. which is why they work if equipped to a weapon slot. Detectors are not weapons. they will not work in weapon slots nor will weapons work in their slot.
Grenade slot should work for weapons, but i haven't tested it. I excluded the 1x1 slots because the 1x2 weapons would look bad in those slots.

Tried putting a knife or a pistol on the binoculars slot, it crashes the game any fixes? From the description I can see that it has problems with bart's sorting tabs but I disabled bart's but it still crashes
it is a problem with any mod that also includes the same xml files i do. find the conflict, follow the instructions in the description to make a patch
Would there be a way to make it so the binocular slot is the default slot when equipping for the pistol? Very minor convenience feature, but would be nice to just be able to double-click and equip to that slot, instead of having to drag & drop.

This mod is working fine. But you have to open the both files in configs/ui folder and remove the two comment lines from them.

They are wrong, so the game thinks that these are nodes.

I am playing with the last version of anomaly, it's working fine, I just had to merge the xml files cause an addon and that's all.
