Adds the intro text from Hexen for the N64. Designed for and tested with GZDoom.
This addon is created for use with GZDoom. NOT multiplayer compatible. Compatibility with gameplay mods is likely but not guaranteed. Mods that are very ACS heavy might break when used with this, as well as mods that change the music mid-level.
Tested thoroughly by me, but if a script in a level seems to be broken, let me know so I can fix it.
By default, intro text is displayed every time you enter a level. If you wish to make it only display the first time you visit a level, open the console and type "hexentext_everytime false" (without the quotes). If you wish to undo that, simply type "hexentext_everytime true" (again, without the quotes).

All instances of "Hexen" in the text were replaced with "Cronos" to make it more canon with the lore.
Was wondering why this was never done before.
Probably because it is rather complicated and hacky to do. I had to prevent certain level scripts from starting upon map initialization in order to keep the game from breaking. A less faithful but more simple way to create a similar addon would be to use text screens like in between hubs, but instead one for each level.
Now this is very interesting.
I was wondering if it would be possible to do this by presenting the texts with a screenshot of each corresponding map instead of the red background thing. I know it's unlike the N64 version, but it's not a bad idea.
Yes that would be certainly possible and definitely not a bad idea. Probably would be best to make them a lower image resolution like 640x400 to prevent excessive file sizes. Will consider it in future versions.
I really, really like this.
It's such a small thing, but it adds a lot of RPG flavor to the game.
