I rewrote many of the item titles and descriptions to be more accurate/realistic and feel nicer. Formerly known as Hellblau's Item Names. Changes the names of guns, ammo, cigarettes, PDAs, gun parts, junk/everyday items, medikits, and suppressors. If you have a mod that you'd like me to make compatible with this, PM me and I'll do my best. If you have a suggestion for something I should rename, tell me that as well!
Update 1: Fixed inconsistent order in the titles of the 5.45 rounds
Update 2: New description for Snag's AKS-74UB, made "Soviet cigarettes" into three different item names based upon their labels translated into English, a couple of other tiny improvements that I don't remember.
Update 3: Many changes to the weapon names for specification accuracy and general flavor, especially the special variants. Fixed grammar errors that were present due to many descriptions having been machine-translated Russian Wikipedia articles. Again renamed the Soviet cigarettes. Here are some of the more significant renamed/re-described weapons as of update 3: AK-74M PKA, USP "March", VSS "Tide", SVD "Lynx", Remington 700.
Update 4: Suppressors! Every single suppressor in the game now has a proper name and description. This includes changing the description of many of the guns to match. Renamed a handful of the "misc." items such as the wristwatch. There is a patch for Grok's Body Health System included, so that the "misc." new names can still be seen with that mod. As with the other updates, I also continued to slightly improve grammar and minor details in many descriptions.
Update 5: A handful of changes to the gun names since the last update. I replaced a few of the "Alternate production" variants with more descriptive names, because I found myself avoiding guns that were labeled in such a boring way. I changed the broken "Kimber Desert Warrior" to have a somewhat comical backstory based off of the STALKER joke that there are no bugs in the game, only anomalies. Yes, I decided to hop on the funny recent Anomaly mod-naming trend.
Update 6: Gun parts. All of the gun parts no longer have absolutely atrocious names and descriptions that were obviously and poorly machine translated from Russian, such as, and yes this is a real description, "Drummer with the mainspring from some imported PP with a longitudinal-a sliding free bolt carrier." A gay xenophile might be looking for some imported PP, but not a STALKER gunsmith. Each part has been checked to see if its name is accurate to both Anomaly and real life, which was more infuriating than expected, but it paid off well. I also changed the descriptions of the AK rifles without siderails to line up with the rest of the description.
Update 7: Added patches for Grok's Body Health System and HD Models (BHS replaces one of the files in my mod, so I merged them. HD models changes the item icons, so I changed the helmet names and descriptions to match). This update also includes the usual further polishing of the item names, as with every update.
Update 8: A smaller one because I'm running of things to rename, but this update adds a patch for Mags Redux that simplifies the names of the standard magazines so the "Standard" and caliber label are removed, this is similar to my other addon for the original mags mod, except many of its features have already made their way into the new version, so it only removes some of the overcomplication of the names. I also renamed the medkits to match their real-life designation (AI-2) and the army/sci medkits to have the suffix "V" and "N" respectively (they are not real so I made their designations up after the Russian words for "Military" and "Scientific").
Update 9: The B&S patch has begun! I agreed to fix up the gun names in B&S despite never using the mod myself, only to find I had my work cut out for me. The names and descriptions are riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and even factual errors! This update doesn't fix it all, but I've done a lot, especially with the gun titles, taking creative liberties when it comes to the unique or heavily customized guns, giving them interesting names. This removes a lot of the "(BaS)" text at the end of the titles of both guns and optics, replacing it with something that distinguishes it from the vanilla weapons more naturally. The B&S patch is not finished, but it's certainly an improvement. Also expect the further general polishing of everything else that comes with every update - if I see something wrong or ugly, I open up Notepad++ and fix it. This comes out exactly one year after the mod's release, happy birthday, THIGHS!

I wrote the description about Clear Sky (the prequel, not the faction), not SoC. You can see Strelok using an SG550 in Clear Sky and can even obtain it in Call of Pripyat, and of course, Anomaly.
There's a conflict with Grok's Ballistic Overhaul due to the ammo's descriptions being changed in st_items_ammo.xml, there's a couple hundred lines being overwritten by GBO. For now though, using your st_items_weapons.xml is pretty nice. Good job bro!
Glad to hear you like it! Yeah, anything that edits those two files won't be compatible, you'd have to pick one or merge them manually in notepad++.
This is a really great mod, I like to read whatever I can in this game and your work makes it more enjoyable and immersive. With all due respect to the creators, sometimes even some unfortunate repetition of a word in adjacent sentences can get me out of the game. I encourage you to broaden the scope of the texts you have changed, as these changes are of very good quality. Perhaps armors as well? But I understand how much work it takes, so treat it only as a wishful proposition, not a request.

Well done, thank you! I always found a lot of the descriptions hilariously bad. Are you by any chance planning to do something similar with BaS texts? That would be amazing.
Normally I would say no because I don't use BaS, but I actually like making these things, so if you can give me the text files in BaS, I'll put in the research and effort!
Edit: Actually nevermind, I'll download the thing myself and make a new instance in MO2 so I can look at the guns all I need to for ID'ing exact makes & models
My localization on the armored suits is shaping up very close to what i would imagine to be playable.
Seems like this mod and mine would play very nicely among each other. (If only i could express the descriptions in a better way)
I'd love to see what you've done with the armors! Personally I'm more of a gun guy than an armor/uniform guy so I had a hard time trying to change those items.
Epic one year of THIGHS; On a related note i am actually very very impressed by what you did to the guns, specially descriptions. Maybe i felt a little confused by the weapon parts description though, but it turned out to just be a matter of getting used to.

Yeah, if you don't like the weapon part names, delete the file "st_items_parts.xml" from this mod and the original names will be restored.
