Run. Think. Shoot. Hear.
"Half-Life - Full Audio Remaster" is a Sven Co-op mod dedicated to faithfully remastering all the low quality sound effects and dialogue from Half-Life, Blue Shift and Opposing Force.
Monsters. Machinery. Scientists. Your arsenal of weapons. Your footsteps—every sound manually cleaned and restored to full 24/44.1kHz quality.
How to install:
Simply drag and drop all the folders to the svencoop_addon folder in "\steamapps\common\Sven Co-op".
For Xash3D and MetaAudio users, click here.
Do not mod these into the original Half Life 1. The original GoldSrc engine does not support high quality audio.
How to play:
Sven Co-op comes with the entire campaign of Half Life 1 for free. For Opposing Force and Blue Shift you need to have the game installed on your Steam library. Go to steamapps\common\Sven Co-op\svencoop
and run "Install_bshift_Support.bat" and "Install_OpFor_Support.bat" to add support.
Here are the first maps for each game:
hl_t00 (Half Life 1 Training Course)
hl_c00 (Half Life 1)
ba_tram1 (Half Life Blue Shift)
ofa0a0 (Half Life Opposing Force)
ofboot0 (Half Life Opposing Force Boot Camp)
By default Sven Co-Op turns NPC friendly fire off. To enable, type "mp_npckill 1" in the command.
KNOWN ISSUES:
The game might stutter a little bit when loading too many sounds or long sounds.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Because of Sven Co-op's lack of env_rope, the boot camp maps of Opposing Force are not fully playable and broken. Some sections of the maps that do contain ropes were edited and the final boss
has yet to be supported as the time of Sven Co-op 5.25. In the mean time—included in this mod is a fix for the final boss by user CubeMath. Thank you CubeMath!
Blue Shift's training course is not available in Sven Co-op.
FAQ:
"Can I use or edit these sounds in my game/videos?"
-Yes. Crediting would be appreciated.
"Did you use any of the original stock sound effects that Valve used for the game?"
-None whatsoever—apart from Otis' gun. Explosions were heavily edited to resemble the original game's distorted sound.
"What was then the process for doing all of these?"
-For sound effects it involves a lot of cleaning up the original sound file using Izotope RX's tools and other tools to attenuate distortion—the process of creating high frequencies through various manners—the shaping
of the sound all the way down to the sound design work and mimicking the mixing techniques of the original with a more modern twist to it.
For vocals it's more complicated, it's a mix of the process above intertwined with manual phoneme/breath mixing and heavily cleaned up results from General Speech Restoration neural networks.
"Why did you do the unused sounds if they're not even used in the game"
-idk
"Is there any easter eggs?"
- :)
"I have found a bug/issue with one of the sounds, where can I report this?"
-Please email me @ halfliferestored@gmail.com. Please don't DM me on Steam or Twitter for small bug fixes.
"There are some sounds missing/mislabelled sound!"
-You can email me about those as well.
"Is there any support for Decay/Uplink"
-Nope. Sorry. Only Scientist lines for now.
"What about the Gamecube version?"
-how do you even have that
"or the Korean version?"
-HUH??

This is incredibly impressive, what software did you use to upscale the audio?
There is FAQ in description...
Ah, my bad
Is this supposed to come with the 4th level of the opposing force bootcamp? I went through the first 3 and then saw that it was missing when trying to do a playthrough with a friend. I know you said that the maps had replaced the rope entity.
Fourth level is unfortunately broken in Sven Coop and crashes on multiplayer.
YES, it's time to add 24bit output to Xash! :)

Are we allowed make mods that port these sounds to Half Life 2 or Black Mesa? Giving proper credit of course
Yes.
Awesome, thanks!

Have you considered doing this for some sounds from the HL2 Leak or GTA Trilogy?
I may try to convert it to Half Life Source, so many audio files. Great job though.
Good luck with that man.
Sounds Classic Gargantua sounds quickly!
