Well ****, you beat me to it. I was working on something similar and was almost done with it.
What was it?
Sound pack. Ripped the sounds from the PS1 disc. Was in the process of replacing all in game sounds with ones from Electrosphere. Already had the hud and weapons almost done.
That being said, this sound pack works only for certain planes.
There are several HUD sound sets in the game, that's why. I'm not sure what defines what plane uses which.
It's somewhere in the plane.configs. :P
Man, screw that, I just replaced them all ranging from A to was it G?
My only problem really was the Vulcan sound, that **** I never really got right and it always crashed my computer when I did to preview the sound file.
You can record it in-game with Sound Forge or similar software.
I thought of replacing weapon sounds, but I'm too lazy atm. So there's nothing preventing you from continuing your work you know.
Well, I'm a lazy bastard too and can't really be arsed to fix that Vulcan sound effect. Someone else do it.
Rip some from Ace Combat 5 and Assault Horizon!
I've only found some explosion sounds from AC5. Not sure how to rip anything else, especially from ACAH. The technique I used for AC3 won't work in this case, so if someone else knows how to do that - be my guest.
At least you can upload those explosion sounds too. The kaboom sounds from AC5/Z are among the most satisfying explosion sound I've heard in video games.
But someone managed to rip through ACAH files, not sure whether the guy's still alive or not

I'd honestly like a sound mod with an actual Betty for the aircraft, for both the russian, swedish and american aircraft.
This would be cool, but, I can't see myself installing that bitch(ing betty)...
I think there is one 'ding' sound every time you shot down a plane. perhaps you can change it to "Bullseye!" or "Bingo" voice.
But still that missile warning sound is top notch.
That's the sound of a next target being selected.
