A lightweight overhaul of the ambience and sounds, giving the Zone a dead and moody atmosphere that's much more minimalist than default Anomaly, replacing some ambient and footstep sounds with files from Metro: Exodus as well as ambient tracks. Compatible with 1.5.1.
INSTALLATION:
- Choose either "All Files" to install every change I made or select "Modular" if you only want to install certain parts.
- Extract the gamedata folder of your choice into your main directory, merging it with Anomaly's gamedata folder.
CHANGELOG:
- Version 1.0 (November 6th): Modified the ambience preset files for all of the outdoor presets, removing all the distant sounds, birds tweeting, and old crow sounds. Replaced the crow sounds, a few wind gust effects, indoor rain, removed a few low quality wind sounds, and replaced one of the gravitational anomaly idle sounds.
- Version 2.0 (November 10th): Replaced the above ground ambient music with songs from Metro: Exodus and made the required changes to game_levels_music.ltx to play the songs. Also added the ability to install with modularity if you only want the ambient changes or only want the music.
- Version 3.0 (November 10th): Replaces player footstep sounds with files from Metro: Exodus
- Version 3.1 (February 7th): Small changes to the environment presets to add back in some spooky sounds but not too much to overwhelm the soundscape.
SUMMARY:
This mod modifies the ambience for all of the outdoor areas to remove clutter in the sound channels, get rid of random distant sounds, and provide an atmosphere for the Zone that's much more minimalist and moody. Birds tweeting is gone as well, so all you are going to hear in the ambience is wind and crows. Swamps still contain frog choirs and insect noises however. Replaces some of the sounds you are going to hear most with sounds extracted from Metro: Exodus, namely crows, footsteps, and some wind sounds. Additionally replaces the indoor rain sound with something that is actually audible and sounds neat, as well as the gravitational anomaly idle that I found the most grating and droning. Lastly, the above ground music has been replaces with ambient tracks from Metro: Exodus. The mod is very lightweight and only contains the modified sound files and configs, ensuring better compatibility with other mods as well as both versions of Anomaly.
COMPATIBILITY:
Incompatible with Solarint's Soundscape Overhaul as it touches the same configs and sound files (Solarint's contains nearly every sound and config for sounds). Compatible with any mod that just replaces certain sounds, like Misery footsteps. You can also replace any of the sounds I modified, you just won't be able to have both. JSRS should be compatible because it doesn't touch ambient sounds or ambient preset configs. Is compatible with 1.5.1 and does not require starting a new game, however I can't guarantee the ambience will play right the first time you load up your save after installing. It could take a while or you might need to sleep or something to reset the ambience (Xray sound is really weird and finnicky).
Please release an audio file so i know what im downloading
Great Work, thank you very much for making it :)
You're welcome!
Love all of your mods, the weather one especially. Great job!
Thanks!
yeah, for the first time, i feel like the zone has warm sunny day with those bright sunlight. damn i love that
I play with custom weather settings, so I never see the sun. :D But windy overcast weather looks very realistic too.
a very nice addition, the sounds are much more realistic.
Thank you very much
We could use your addon over Solarint Soundscape Overhaul?
It should be incompatible since they touch some of the same config files but both my mod and Solarint's do slightly different things. My sound replacements would work fine but they might sound out of place without the config changes I did
fantastic
thank you
this one conficts with your weather revamp mod, can you fix that since im using both and im not going to give up on any of those
Conflicts how? They don't touch any of the same files and I'm always using both
im using JGSME, and i install in the order : sound - weather. the folder conficted is the environment folder in config. i dont know about the files contained in the folder, but it means JGSME will replace the whole folder, and i dont know if that will affect sound addon or not.
That's strange. I mean they both effect that folder, but they are folders within that folder. The sound mod changes configs related to environment presets, the weather mod changes configs related to weather presets. They are contained in different subfolders inside of gamedata/configs/environment.
It won't replace the entire folder, it just warns you that the folder you're trying to create has been already created by another mod. Just ignore it. Unless both mods have files that are named the same at the same directories, there's nothing to worry about.
Yeah didn't realize JGSME made warnings like that because I don't tend to use it
terrible sounds of the hero walking and running, especially on the roads
Then uninstall it, it's an option for a reason
Nice!!!!
Where can i get the autumn textures from?
It's here on ModDB, just search "autumn" or something. I'm using the desaturated version.

thank you!
You're welcome!
If I'd known that you would update this - I hadn't done it by myself! However, at least I was able to enjoy it a little earlier :D
Thx
Thanks, is really nice not hearing the annoying fake mutants sound
Got crash when i go to the swamps.

found 'background_swamp_tuman' in environment_swamp.ltx in your mod
Update. I placed SOUNDSCAPE OVERHAUL 3.0 after your mod in load order so environment_swamp.ltx from SO would be used and now crash on swamps is gone.
it is easier to add a section from the original in "backgrounds.ltx"
[background_swamp_tuman]
max_distance = 3.000000
min_distance = 2.000000
period0 = 0
period1 = 0
period2 = 0
period3 = 0
sounds = ambient\trx\background\swamp_tuman
and nothing else will be needed!!!
Hi! Are there any chances of getting version 3.0? Deleting "spooky sounds" completely is my goal.
I only use the indoor rain sfx from this. Don't think anything else is worth it, but cannot imagine why no sound mods didn't try this before. even the soundscape overhaul makes rain lower volume when indoor instead.
Very nice. More atmospheric. But remove frog sound from swamp please.
