Addon that gives more freedom upgrade-wise during early game without breaking the balance.
I was always annoyed by how Stalker mods handle the toolkit situation, with luck affecting your gameplay way too much for my comfort. You could find a basic toolkit in the first stash you laid your eyes upon or struggle to find it tens of hours into your playthrough.
Playing Lost Alpha I really liked how they dealt with that, allowing you to upgrade very basic things early on without relying on toolkits. You had an option to run old stuff for longer, instead of being forced to throw stuff away the second something slightly better is available. Turns out that this solution is very easy to implement in Anomaly, as the developers actually included such system already, it is just unutilized.
1. I fully unlocked upgrades for many old/starter weapons and outfits you are most likely going to use only early to mid-game. Full list below.
2. I slightly changed what upgrades basic and advanced toolkits unlock, without making them redundant or the game too easy. Tier 1 upgrades require no toolkits for any weapon/armor. Basic toolkit unlocks second option from tier 2. Advanced toolkit unlocks the first/only option from tier 2. Expert toolkit unlocks tier 3 as it did before. I included an image below showing how it works now. I did it this way around in order to prevent basic toolkit from unlocking too much. Due to how toolkit tasks work you can't skip any either way.
The mod is "adjustable", as in you can easily get rid of one of those two features if you don't like it.
Everything from the "configs" folder is responsible for the first change mentioned above.
The "inventory_upgrades.script" inside "scripts" folder is responsible for the second one. Removing/not installing those files will disable each feature. Similarly, if any other mod overwrites those files, they will obviously not work.
The list of things fully upgradeable without toolkits:
TOZ-34 (and its variants)
TOZ-66 (and its variants)
All the different types of jackets
Military service outfit
Unfortunately within Anomaly config files a lot of the upgrades are shared between low and high-end equipment. As much as I'd like to add more basic outfits or weapons to the list, I can't do that without either unlocking unintended upgrades or completely butchering the upgrade system itself, which would take 1000x more time and frankly isn't worth the effort while Anomaly is still in development. As it is, there are already two weapons and one outfit that are getting unlocked by this mod, which I would prefer to remain locked. To not make it easy to abuse this unfortunate side-effect, I'll keep to myself what equipment that is. :)
Yes, I know that Forester exists. You can share in the comments your tale about the brave rookie that fought his way through hordes of Monolith in Red Forest to upgrade his Makarov.
Let me know if I screwed something up. And feel free to do whatever you wish with this mod. It was mostly copypaste.
