This file contains separate compatibility patches for various wads like Alien Vendetta, Ancient Aliens, and Back to Saturn X for the BrutalDoom Community Expansion v21.14.0 or above. This way BrutalDoom will not replace textures or apply brightmaps to textures that have been changed from vanilla and remain true to the pwad-author's vision. Specifically for adapting BrutalDoom to other than vanilla liquid textures and custom monsters.

- Update 05/30/3021: Updated CVARS to v21.10.1

- Update 07/05/2021: Removed the back-up file for NEIS
- Update 08/08/2021: Added Plutonia 2 and TNT: Revilution (uses combo textures for liquid falls so can't really adapt to that kind of thing) compatibility. Updated the EternalDoom patch to correctly display Eternal's WFALL1:4 textures (movie).
- Update 10/03/2021: Added Community Chest 2, 3, and 4 patches. Added Doom 2 Reloaded, Eviternity, Herian 2, and Valiant patches. Inside the patches for Scythe 2 and Resurgence includes a decorate file that modifies the Afrit and Mr. X(Mr. X actor definition has been moved out of brutalv21.11.0) so that they spawn brutal doom projectiles. The Epic 2 patch also includes a decorate file for the alien actor(was moved out of v21.11.0) which will fire plasmaballs now. Eviternity patch includes a decorate file to make Eviternity's monsters behave correctly with v21.11.0 as well. And the Valiant and Sunlust patch replaces the brutal doom explosivebarrel actor with a vanilla barrel actor so that Valiant (map07) and Sunlust (map30) are playable and wont drag the FPS down to 1FPS or crash the game. All patches now include the sound files from the map wad if it originally replaced any of the vanilla sounds so that those will be retained while playing with v21.11.0.

Doesn't work for me
Got it to work. Didn't have the newest Brutal Doom. Love it. Are you going to do more map sets or maps?
Yes, I just host servers of and play through the Cacoward winners each night so, just finished Resurgence and now am play testing Eternal.wad which will be the next addition.
Does the Eday patch work with Eday Vanilla?
It will work with edaytest001.pk3 if that's what you mean by "vanilla"
hi bloodwolf it's this eday vanilla Moddb.com
I downloaded it and tried it on my end, there are so many start-up errors I'm not changing my mod to work with that janky thing. I opened it in Slade and it is patching over files from brutal doom so, it will undo everything I have fixed in those various files. It's partially a gameplay mod in itself and this old 1994 decorate code does not allow for mixing gameplay mods together its not that simple and modular. So, I pass but, you are free to go in yourself and make them work together and fix all the errors, I will never play that wad.
sadly it doesn't work, even the creator of eday vanilla told that it's not compatible. would be great if it's compatible though. i find the brutal doom expansion gameplay more fluid and fun.
Moddb.com
I like the idea but only fixed half of the moving screens textures in TNT Map 11.
Yeah I need to update this, I've got them fixed now
Note that the hidef liquid texture pack or any other mods that replace WFALL1 : WFALL4 textures is going to show water falls over those moving screen textures. Idk why team TNT had to do those goofy combo wall textures (WFALL1 - WFALL4 are a combination of wall texture patches arrayed side-by-side) but, they will screw up with anything else that overwrites the water fall texture. this is an old 1993 Doom engine limitation.
(TNT, Plutonia) - Is this from the official game "Final Doom TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment"?
Yes those are compat patches for the final doom games. TNT uses combination textures for WFALL1:4 like we were talking about above. And Plutonia changes some switch textures and the FIREBLU# textures so the brutal doom brightmaps need to be disabled for those textures.
Do you know the mod "Beautiful Doom"?
How it solves similar problems with texture replace.
Quote from there:
***"Well, if you use DEHACKED and sprites option, Beautiful Doom will detect if more than one sprite with the same name is loaded, and it won't replace the actor. Note, for animated objects it'll only check for the first sprite; for example, for Red Torch it'll check if TTRBA0 sprite is loaded more than once."***
What do you think of this method?
And if you read the description for Beautiful Doom it is using the advanced ZScript to do all of that. Zandronum (multiplayer) doesnt support ZScript yet. I will not break compatibility with zandronum I playtest this every night with online coop and that is what I am developing this for. I dont care about GZDoom.
Error with the file: "BDCE_SCYTHE2_COMPATIBILITY.pk3" in GZDoom 4.10.

"Script error, "BDCE_SCYTHE2_COMPATIBILITY.pk3:animdefs.txt" line 745:

Yeah there are 60 files I have to update the doomwalls.bm file for now since I change the liquids in v21.13.1 it's going to take a while.
Fixed
Thank you. It works!
When playing with Brutal Doom Platinum on TNT Revilution, and Plutonia 2, some textures don't load and default to the checkered texture. Is this because I'm playing with BDP and if it is, is it fixable for that or is only fully compatible with vanilla BD?
They removed the mapenhancements for Platinum last I heard. So no these patches are only designed to work with my brutal doom community expansion (BDCE).
hello and thanks for your work
I ran ancient aliens with BD 21.3.13 and the compatibility patch and encountered the following bugs:
- chaingunner firing sound randomly changes between vanilla and BD, with vanilla being much quieter
- fonts are still broken with capital and regular letters belonging to different fonts and : replacing Y
- map03 arachnotron arrival is still busted with multiple arachnotrons getting stuck inside the warp tunnel
- map10 gift of denial is still busted with the player dying instead of finishing the level
- on maps with regular blue water, within several frames after the start of the game the water texture changes to a jarring unreal-like aqua blue texture which clashes with other textures stylistically, and walking on it with ripples enabled shows the ripples being a regular dark blue color which again clashes with the aqua hue
cheers
- Chaingunner firing sound changing from vanilla to the BD version I am not able to reproduce on my end. Are you using vanilla monsters, another sound addon, or something else specific?
- Font problem is now fixed
- Map03 arachnotrons failing to tele in is a map design problem, 10 arachnotrons trying to teleport in on only two pads and allowing enough room in the closet for them to get past the teleport lines is a map design issue and outside the scope of these patches.
- Map10 ends the episode correctly with v21.14.0 I'm not able to reproduce.
- the water animation issue I am not able to reproduce either, map specific map?
The water ripples are models with the old brutal doom liquid texture applied to them and I dont have a model editor. I think that feature is garbage and ugly and I always have it disabled. This also makes it impossible (as far as I know) to make it adapt to the new hires liquid textures or switch back to the vanillish lowres liquid textures if people have map enhancements disabled. I might just delete it entirely I dont like or care about the ripples feature honestly
Thanks for your work.

Hello there! I tried using these patches with the Community Chest 2, but on the second map, several textures seem missing (many warnings appears when the level starts, and in some places there are checkered textures, meaning the textures aren't found). Perhaps I did something wrong, since the CChest 2 patch is quite recent?
Here's the command line I use to start everything (I use Zandronum 3.0 and redownloaded Brutal Doom v21 like a week ago):
Zandronum.exe -file "Cchest2.wad" "brutalv21.pk3" "BDCE_CCHEST2_COMPATIBILITY.pk3"
Any clues? Thanks!
These are meant to be used with my version of brutal doom v21.14.0+
Load order:

Oof. Sorry about that. Only figured out now that the version I downloaded here on ModDB isn't the last one. Had to find your Git page to get it. After I did that and updated Zandronum to v3.1 everything is working. Thank you!
EDAY need fix
yeah that compat patch is for my fixed-up version of EDay so I guess I should release that
