It's the first level you play in the game, you can't recognise it?

I think it was the first level you get to when you leave the little castle courtyard, but I can't be sure; it's been ages since I played that game.

I can see why it may not be too recognizable, it was an old game, however, for those who do remember playing it will recognize straight away. I let my cousin play it without him knowing what the map was and he said "this looks like one of the levels from mario 64"...since he's a bit of a nintendo fan.
But anyway, as grimezy15 and zahlenbechk said, it's the first level that you play in super mario 64.

That's great. If you know it's from Mario it's easily recognizable, but until then you really have to be looking. Looks fantastic!

NEW VERSION OUT. If you downloaded it before, the new version just fixed up a little un-noticable but large mistake, aswell as made some areas look a tad better. I added some rocks to one of the plain areas just up above the big ball chain cave too for cover.

Hmmm...I think what would make this more recognizable is some bomb-ombs and that big Chomp on a chain :p

Thank JudeTrend, I think I could probably add a few more bits of cover in there, but at the moment it's fine for multiplayer.

noooo really? You think? lol.
It's impossible to make it EXACTLY like the level from super mario 64. But anyway..here is the reference image I used.

Geocities.com

Right now, this map is about as close as you're going to get to the super mario 64 bomb-omb battlefield map using the far cry 2 engine and objects.

The only real big differences is that I used rocks for the Chomp cave instead of that concrete stuff, the cliff doesn't have those little alcoves where boulders roll out of, the floating island has a bridge going to it rather than having a cannon shoot the person to it or a hang glider fly to it (bad idea, I tried it).
Oh and I'm missing the little mushroom head things running around and the floating blocks, cannons and so on.
As well as a bunch of other stuff that really didn't make the map stand out.
So which part didn't you recognize exactly?

Did you? lol
Mate, I had to in order to make this map ;)
I would like you to elaborate on what you mean by "Not exactly the level from super mario 64"...It CAN'T be exact, like I've already explained.
And if you think you can do better in less time, then by all means, go for your life.

So Did I. But If You that is your copy of that map you need more green grass & trees.

The original mario 64 map didn't have many trees at all ;).
While it's easy to just spam the crap out of the map with grass and trees, I was also trying to keep it to being recognizable, and the original map only had very few trees, hence why this isn't a jungle like you're suggesting to make.
I can see the benefits of adding more trees for cover and such, but as I said, the original didn't have that many trees.
I can upload a version with trees to the Far Cry 2 addons later with some rocks and other cover, but it simply won't feel the same.
