Adds a Energy Katana to Brutal Doom as a chainsaw spawn, inspired a bit by Zero's Saber from Megaman X, main fire uses the blade for melee without ammo use which regenerates armor after hitting a target, alt fire can be either a shield of a energy slash short range rippper projectile that takes 5 plasma ammo.
UPDATE: added a shield firemode, use dual wield to swamp alternate firemodes
"The UAC wouldn't get behind in it's plasma technology ventures for it's melee weaponry, the UAC NanoTechnology Energy Katana is a blade created with the sole purpose of being a viable melee weapon with extra utility use, as the technology converts the flesh of it's target into nanomachines that regenerate the user's armor, since just melee was not enough, it can also unleash a slashing energy cut into the target at short range, which while not regenerating armor, and using plasma cells, is still strong enough to rip through the enemy to melt or cut them, it comes bundled with a shield firemode."

are you using the correct version? the PERS-ADDON one is for Dox's personalized addon, not for vanilla BD, since the Dox Addon version has a call into a state exclusive from it in the select animation (to show the player's legs like in his addon)

Essentially, it's a lightsabre for Brutal Doom. Nice weapon though, especially the armour regeneration function.

That's weird, what sourceport are you using? I've only tested it in GZDoom FYI, maybe I should explore the cause of this potential issue later just in case
I always use Zandronum (for co-op).
That's probably the cause of the problem, I see it's an issue relating to the A_CustomPunch code, Zandronum is severely outdated and that could be the reason, maybe it's CustomPunch code is outdated (IIRC Zandronum is based in a GZDoom from 2014 or so)
Yeah the problem seems to be Zandronum, I asked in the Zandronum Discord and it seems that it has an out of date version of the A_CustomPunch script (that doesn't have armorsteal support), thus the problems.
Sooo...does that mean I'm out of luck or are you planning a Zandro compat version? :)

New update: added a shield firemode to the altfire, it's the default firemode now, but you can swap back again to the slash altfire by pressing the dual wield key
