You could just use the original addon. Been using it for ages and it works just fine on newer versions.

the stamina effect is not that good for me, because when you depleted your stamina the effects will stay for seconds. But when the effects are gone on an approximately 1/4 stamina, it will not show up again so you gotta fill up the stamina bar again the let the stamina effects show up again.

With this addon Moddb.com the player starts to stumble when close to lose running stamina. I think it is a good alternative to the annoying stamina screen effect.

could you design a new radiation effect, I really liked the radiation effect that was used in shadow of chernobyl, but in Anomaly is so bad

According to some players and modders, radiation can only be detected when using a Geiger counter. But I can try just for you.

I made an optional radiation effect. Don't know if you'll like it.

It isn't compatible with Moddb.com, ain't it?

I dunno dude, but this mod is just for screen effects nothing more nothing less. No engine tweaking and such, just a screen feedback depending on health, stamina, and radiation.

Hey there Handsome (what a way to open, eh?)

LOVE the effects, this has got amazing potential, but I have a little feedback upon testing:

Because of the nature of Anomaly's design, you will very often find yourself in need to carry on with low health and without ways to cure yourself for long stretches of time and while the screen effects this addon creates are really nice, they do need some serious toning down and smart balancing - as they are now they are simply a bit too strong for comfortable playing over longer stretches with low health. Let me elaborate.

The Desaturation effect scaling with health loss is really neat and works well for instance, but it goes too black & white too quickly. It would be more elegant if it capped at about 40% desaturation at its absolute lowest.

The 'floating double vision' effect a bigger problem though. I got shot with a single bullet and the blurred, floating and flashing vision effect was so strong that I could not see anything. This would be totally fine and neat if it lasted a couple of seconds as a shock of impact, but as it turns out it stays on indefinitely till you manually heal yourself, making the experience of playing nearly insufferable.

I also got hit by a cat once and my vision went nearly completely black for some reason, so that I couldn't react and effectively defend myself from another blow. As soon as it started returning, boom - cat hits again and it's black again and you're dead.

Now imagine you get shot up and you'd run out of meds far away from home. You will have to journey for a long long time, basically in high-contrast black and white, flashing floating double vision that makes it impossible to see anything. It spoils the game a little.

I realise that some may consider this immersive, dramatic, even realistic (duh), but it's a real design problem in terms of gameplay considerations. Vanilla Anomaly suffers from the same issue of ridiculously overdone 'immersion' effects that are ten times more annoying than they are immersive and mostly get switched off or modded out immediately.

So the bottom line is: the effects are all there and they look great, but need a subtlety pass.
'Too much of a good thing', as they say.

What would be best, if you know how to, was to make MCM settings, with adjustable sliders and permanent / timed options for each of those effects. Where desaturation works well as a permanent effect that scales with health linearly, things like the 'dizzy vision' would be best with a timed decay, going away or toning down quickly.

I really hope this can get adjusted because the potential is there and amazing.
Thanks for the mod man and good luck going forward

I recommend to disable the Bleeding and Low Health Effect in "Setting > Player". Because the script doesn't involve blacking of the screen when bleeding. I also did not include any floating and flashing effects in low health.

To be honest im still a noob in modding, so I don't know some stuff about MCM

I have them disabled already, I'll check if something conflicts.
Perhaps if not mcm then some settings in the file that someone could easily access and modify.

Just tested on a clean installation - no other addons and all vanilla effects switched off in settings.

It looks exactly as I was describing: Imgur.com

The screen desaturates and does a pulsing double vision and brightening / darkening.

Saturation is fine - although too strong, being nearly black and white at 50% health - but the other two other effects are too wild simply because they won't subside till you heal yourself, which in Anomaly oftentimes you won't be able to for longer stretches of time.

It's just a matter of balancing this to be much more subtle and for some of them to subside with time rather than scale with health.

Hey,

Could you tell me what to modify in the file to make the health-linked blurry double vision effect less strong and also only kicking in permanently when your health gets down to about 15%?

I don't mind doing trying to fiddle with adjustments myself if you could point me in the right direction

thx!

The main variable for your problem is the "playerhealthblureffect", and the PPEs for darkening is the the "black.ppe" and for the blur is "snd_shock.ppe". You can remove them or multiply them at a low percentage

amazing, thanks. Is there a way to indicate that we only want the playerhealthblureffect to kick start at a certain health threshold? If you say you're a noob at modding / coding, I wasn't even born, so any specifics will be kindly welcome ;)

probably create a condition like

if db.actor.health < "health threshold" then
"effects and logic here"
end

you need to readjust your saturation in settings > basic light settings

Hi, I decided to archive this because I can no longer maintain this addon. That's because my mid tier pc is not bricked due to electrical fluctuations in my place.

So now I decided to moved on from creating addons for Anomaly. Im sorry if you're disappointed.

Unless someone decided to continue maintaining and improving this addon.
