Volatile Health -- Health with a surprise. ========================================== NOTE: This mutator has no relation to Volatile Health 110, also for Unreal Tournament. While the concepts are similar (identical, even), I have not copied nor even looked at the source code. I do credit it, however, with partial inspiration for this mutator. Volatile Health is a small mutator intended to increase the spontaneity of Unreal Tournament. It makes all health items (medbox, vial, and keg) volatile, exploding when shot. Anybody within the explosion (if you so choose) will take damage. The explosion can also shoot out healing items on destruction, such as a MedBox exploding into Health Vials. One new addition is the Health Shard. This small bit of blue glass is worth a whopping +1 Health. By default, Health Shards appear when destroying Health Vials. Configuration ============= For each health item, you can choose what happens upon destruction: big/small explosion, different health item, etc....

Volatile Health is a small mutator intended to increase the spontaneity of Unreal Tournament. It makes all health items (medbox, vial, and keg) volatile, exploding when shot. Anybody within the explosion will take damage.


The explosion can also optionally release other health items, including all the UT health items, and also a new item: the Health Shard. Health Shards are small bits of blue glass worth a whopping +1 health. By default, they appear upon the destruction of health vials.

One of the neatest things about Volatile Health is the possibility for recursive destruction. That is, any health item released by another health explosion can also be destroyed. So if you have health vials release health shards, and health shards release health vials, you could have unlimited cascading of vials and shards. While that may make for a very cool-looking effect, after about 10,000 health shards are in view, the FPS tends to lag a bit.

Again, Volatile Health is NOT related to Volatile Health 110, also for Unreal Tournament. The concepts are similar (identical, even). Even so, the main purpose of the mutator is to have fun (and for myself to gain coding experience).
