"The Beginning & The End" will take place on the East & West Coasts of the United States in the years 2277 - 2287, many decades after the great war. The mod will mainly be focused on large scale skirmishes between the most notable factions such as the Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, New California Republic, and various smaller factions.

It's kinda greasy and most likely illegal to use models and textures from Fallout 3 and NV, so I have to ask, are you going to create custom ones for the mod?

No my friend, there will be no custom models. I don't have the ability to make them... and personally I think it wouldn't have the same fallout themed feel. "Keep in mind credits go to Bethesda Softworks For models, textures, sounds etc... I'm making this mod for the community, not for profit." Greasy doesn't sound like a nice way to put it. I just want to combine the two games Fallout 3 + MOW = Fallout RTS. A dream come true for many, including me.

I have nothing against that, the idea sounds like a lot of fun. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a **** here, I'm just saying that using content made by them, even if you're crediting the Bethesda staff, is still illegal without a specific permit issued by the parties involved.

Even for a non-profit piece of art, using content made by others without their permission is stealing, simple as that.

thats great man, I hope you begin your crusade against illicit content use against every single other modder out there as well, we have Garys Mod, we have mods like Full Invasion for Mount & Blade, and we cant tell who uses reduced polygon ripped models and who doesnt, there are alot of illicit and "illegal" things mods do and some get away with it while others dont.
It basically comes down to how many people are complaining, although the only people with any right to complain are the creators themselves, not internet police.

MeestorJeebz, please state where I said I would embark on this said crusade and where I was complaining. All I ever did was give a heads up about potential legal struggles over a mod.

I mean, Bethesda sued the Minecraft developer because of the title of an upcoming game; The Scrolls. What do you think they'd do if they got wind of this? That's what I'm trying to tell you here.

@RancidRandy You make sound like it's easy to do this. I also have to put in hard work to export models and create maps, textures, scripts, codes etc... I don't see the harm in using models that are 6 years old. I understand that the original creators put in hard work to create the models, but I'm just trying to bring them back to life. Also Thanks for not being a d*ck.

I think it's damn amazing what you're doing, and without a doubt challenging. But the point I've been trying to make is the fact that it is also quite risky. It's a victimless crime, especially since there is no profit involved, yet Bethesda might have another opinion.

@RancidRandy I don't think you understand. Bethesda pretty much gives the world it's content. Ever heard of the GECK? Yeah. It's pretty much the program they used to make the game. Know what's included with the GECK? Yeah. Every texture, model, sprite, voice, damn near everything in every fallout game. It's hardly illegal or "greasy." Get on your knees and praise the brave men who are making this mod.

Yes, the GECK includes all these things, but the EULA you have to accept before using the GECK states that the user is forbidden to use the content in other games, the same as with all other mod tools for other games. It is by all means illegal. RancidRandy is simply pointing out that the mod maker is at risk by using the content, which I think is the right thing to do, whether or not the mod maker is aware of it or not.

No one wants to see this mod get a cease and desist letter. I personally don't think it will happen, but the possibility is definately there.

@RancidRandy using content made by others without permission is sometimes yes stealing however though I believe a company should allow their content to be used freely in mods or such since 1. the one modding is non-profiting and is not claiming credit but instead given credits to its original owner and 2. those who have at least not played fallout 3 or NV will become interested in maybe buying the games if haven't already if they play it through another game in a mod because I know I became interested in the games that inspired some creations of some mods and bought them to try them out. Also as MeestorJeebz said there are already many mods for different game that use Fallout game ideas and models however they in no way really profit from them besides publicity for both the modder and the owner of the content. So far calling it "stealing" is somewhat a negative standpoint to look at it from since the modder does have take the time to make the mod and do the models and stuff and only profits from publicity which doesn't pay the taxes and the owner of the content gets credits and maybe a few curious customers. So far Dubon hasn't done anything wrong cept not give pics yet of BoS
