It’s the distant future and mankind has expanded beyond its solar system. After spending several centuries traveling, expanding and populating, humans perfected the use of wormhole technology. But wormhole technology comes with a price: it consumes a natural resource found only in particular systems. Many more decades passed as humans built and placed the wormhole devices at strategic points in their little section of the galaxy, thus creating a network of “jump points.” During this time, Mankind had been aware of a war that spanned the galaxy, though known only by the effects their technology left behind. Through research and investigation, humans had learned that there was a massive war taking place between two powerful races: the benevolent Aeryopolis (silvery bird-like creatures that are described as looking like mercury), and the ruthless Kreen (bizarre looking creatures thought to have once had the ability to change their appearance at will. That's correct folks, Spatial Fear: Prologue version 1.1 (Unreal Tournament) has been released! There are two installers to choose from: the upgrade installer (42.7mb), and the full installer (96.4mb). Both files can be found in the SF site's download section. Right now, the only mirror available is Fileplanet, but we expect more to become available shortly if Fileplanet doesn't do it for you.

For those of you who aren't sure that the download time is worth the investment on your dialup, let me tempt you with big list of all of the changes that we did for v1.1

  • Fixed the crouching during conversations bug
  • Increased projectile speed of the B9 pistol and rifle
  • Added detail textures
  • More scripted scenes
  • Aliens are introduced much earlier
  • New weapon ("Rapid Eddy")
  • More inventory items available
  • New ending sequences
  • Reworked first level to decrease difficulty level
  • Updated almost every level for improved gameplay and action
  • New player skins
  • Several new textures
  • Tweaked all communications
  • Drastically improved enemy AI
  • More NPC interactions

If you are still reading this news post instead of downloading the new version, and that list doesn't tempt you, I don't know what will. Either way, you should head on over to the Spatial Fear downloads section and get your download on!
