It’s the distant future and mankind has expanded beyond its solar system. After spending several centuries traveling, expanding and populating, humans perfected the use of wormhole technology. But wormhole technology comes with a price: it consumes a natural resource found only in particular systems. Many more decades passed as humans built and placed the wormhole devices at strategic points in their little section of the galaxy, thus creating a network of “jump points.” During this time, Mankind had been aware of a war that spanned the galaxy, though known only by the effects their technology left behind. Through research and investigation, humans had learned that there was a massive war taking place between two powerful races: the benevolent Aeryopolis (silvery bird-like creatures that are described as looking like mercury), and the ruthless Kreen (bizarre looking creatures thought to have once had the ability to change their appearance at will. The fourth to last is a shot of military, a new level in v1.2.
So how is v1.2 anyway? Well, I'll tell you. We are still developing features, primarily AI and the new HUD, but a huge amount of work is done nonetheless. To be specific, all vehicular physics, collision, and interactivity are 100% complete. We have also reworked several scripted events and communications to flow better. On top of that, Tim has finished the brand new skav model! Once Mike skins it, we'll show off a few screenies. Mike is also in the process of making some new NPC skins, which promise to look interesting. Support for custom-built maps has also been added into the GUI, allowing LD's to design single player missions on Spatial Fear.
On top of the game itself, v1.2 will include the Spatial Fear SDK. The SF-SDK is a package of guides and programs to develop content specifically for Spatial Fear. It will include SpatialED v2.1, the communications builder app, and multiple guides used by us to develop Spatial Fear. It has been in development for quite some time, but I am sure you will understand once it is released.
Also, we have just opened the features section on the main LE site, showcasing articles written by us on issues pertaining to game development. Stop by and take a read, it's woth it.
