FAQ

Q: What kind of map is Lands of Loriana?
A
: It's an open-world RPG map that is currently being developed, with a conversation system, a quest log, exploration, books, a universe filled with unique lore and more!

Q: How will the conversation system work?

A: The conversation system will use YouTube for characters speaking, and annotations to choose an option. This means it requires an Internet connection quick enough to smoothly buffer video, unfortunately, but it should be fine.

Q: How will the quest log work?
A: The quest log will be a *tiny* program, that will be required for other elements of the map as well, such as opening the appropriate conversation.

Q: What will the books be like?
A: The books will be written in-universe, and will explain or elaborate on different things in the world. It'll be very similar to the way Skyrim, Oblivion, etc. handles books.

Q: What's the release date?
A: There'
s currently no release date set, however we're hoping for late 2012/early 2013.

Q: How difficult will the map be?
A: Most players will probably be challenged by the map, but we don't want to make it seem unfair, either. Other things we try to avoid are traps that instantly kill you, such as lava. We find that lava simply annoys the player, and burns all their equipment, which causes rage quits. Therefore the map will utilise it very minimally.
To elaborate, we won't utilise mazes either unless they're actually fun to play. None of us likes them, so we doubt anyone else would either. All gameplay is created with the mindset that we would enjoy it, and therefore others will, too.

Q: How long has this been worked on?
A
: About 9 months, every day having about 3 hours of development by a team of 3-4 people.

Q: How long will the map approximately be?
A
: Probably around 30+ hours of high-quality gameplay for an average player, with a huge overworld to explore, and a ton of dungeons with lots of variety!
