I have to be honest dont you think that putting textures with that res will make the game crash.
Im saying this because i have had problems with that while porting some counter strike online maps,the maps of cso have higher res then the original so when loaded the map plus model the game freezed and crashed because of that downgrading the textures made it work it can load 30 models plus map without problem but the game can crash because it will use all the ram.
If you can hack the engine to increase the limits of everything maybe you should post that hack first.
You should try to make that mod on counter strike source instead of the regular one because the limits are higher on source and can support textures of 1024x1024 but that size is useless if you use low polys models and maps and this is one limit of the goldsrc engine that need to be hacked
Too man HD quality skins in Gold Source engine can result in the crash of the game.I know because I tried to mod CS 1.6 with HD stuff and it became very laggy.
