A fix has been released for Steam Users who are getting an error message when attempting to install the DS1 Legendary Pack for Dungeon Siege 2.
A pre install fix has been released for Players who own the Steam versions of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 and are getting an error message that Dungeon Siege can't be found when attempting to install the DS1 Legendary Pack Mod for Dungeon Siege 2.
This error is occurring because the steam versions of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 are installed by Steam without any Registry values as they are run through Steam. Since the installer for the DS1 Legendary Pack for Dungeon Siege 2 depends on the Registry to find each version of the game so it can copy and convert the necessary assets for playing the mod, it can't proceed with installation.This program simply adds the appropriate Registry values for Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 as created by the retail non-steam versions of these games. It makes no changes to Steam or any other game entries. It also checks that all folders are present before completion. Upon successful completion of the fix, you should be able to install the DS1 Legendary Pack.
DO NOT USE THIS FIX IF YOU DO NOT OWN THE STEAM VERSIONS OF DUNGEON SIEGE AND DUNGEON SIEGE 2. IT WILL CHANGE THE REGISTRY VALUES SO THAT THEY NO LONGER WORK. YOU WILL THEN HAVE TO EITHER MANUALLY RESTORE THE TRUE REGISTRY VALUES OR RE-INSTALL THE GAMES. ONLY USE THIS FIX FOR THE STEAM VERSIONS OF DUNGEON SIEGE 1 AND 2!
As a bonus if you purchase the Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World expansion pack, it should now be able to find Dungeon Siege 2 and be installable and playable.
Reported problems with Elys All*Saves launcher
It has been reported that the included All*Saves launchers from the DS1 Legendary Pack won't work after it has been installed following use of this fix, possibly because of dependency changes introduced with the Steam version of Dungeon Siege 2. This issue is still being investigated.
The DS1 Legendary Pack should still work from your normal shortcut for Dungeon Siege 2 but previous saved games will probably be disabled. Adding mods or removing the DS1 Legendary Pack will also disable any saved games made on the new maps with the mod installed. Any updates to the DS1 Legendary Pack will require restarting a new game.
* Special Thanks
Thanks to Beretta from Mod DB for reporting the fact that the DS1 Legendary Pack can't find the steam versions of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 and so won't install. Thanks also for following up and testing this fix, verifying that the DS1 Legendary Pack installer will then run properly and the mod is installed correctly and is playable as intended.
