Battlefield 2: Australian Forces is a singleplayer and multiplayer modification for the popular team-based modern warfare game Battlefield 2. The aim of the Australian Forces modification is to replace the United States forces with Australian forces; which will include new player, weapon and vehicles skins, appropriate HUD changes, new Australian flags, sounds, and new weapons and vehicles in future releases. This is the mod many Australian players have been waiting for - the chance to take on the world as highly-respected Australian Forces! arkanis50 - Project Lead / PR / Coding Brother Estapol - 3D Models Beex - 3D Models / Coding Vando - Maps / 3D Models Air Elijah - Textures

The core mod team have been working tirelessly for over the last year putting together 0.3, don't let the lack of news fool you - we are all here for the long haul. The fact that patch 1.4 was released recently did not necessarily mean the mod would be released the very next day. The release of BF2AUS 0.3 was, and still is, dependant on two conditions; the first being the release of the Battlefield 2 1.4 patch, the second condition being that we are only going to release the mod when we are happy with the content. There is no point rushing out an unpolished, bug-ridden modification after all of the effort the team has put into it.

With that said, the mod is currently 100% compatible with Battlefield 2 version 1.4, with build 03a31 of Battlefield 2: Australian Forces undergoing internal testing over the weekend. Clocking-in at over 350MB, and growing steadily, the team have been putting the new content through its paces. Playing with the new toys at our disposal. Getting up to all sorts of crazy shit... like surfing on the front of an airborne MRH-90 while headshotting MEC soldiers with the Browning HP as we flew past. That was a laugh-and-a-half! Damn the original content list, let's just keep adding cool stuff!

The core team have also been discussing the future of the mod, namely the 0.4 release. As we see it, Australian Forces will be broken into three distinct releases, each release with its own distinct focus. Beginning with release 0.3, the first phase will revolve around adding the complete compliment of Australian weapons, models and vehicles, focusing on operations in Iraq, and the Middle East. Phase two, 0.4, will focus on operations in a new, and more diverse theatre - but we don't plan on revealing too much about 0.4 at this stage. As for stage three, 0.5... let's just say that all hell is going to break loose. Of course whether we actually make it to release 0.4 or 0.5 will be totally dependant on support from the Australian BF2 community - if you aren't going to play it, we aren't going to continue making it.

That's about all we have to reveal for the moment. Chances are we that will do one more Community Update in the next couple of weeks, and then "go black" until release. No pictures, no updates, no interviews. Get in while you can.
