Time for the second of our Battelfield 2: Australian Forces community updates. That’s right, your chance to see more of the content we have been tinkering with for the last few months.

Bushmaster IMV (modeled by BEEX)
The Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle is an Australian designed and built, wheeled armoured vehicle, produced by Australian Defence Industries Limited (ADI). The role of the Bushmaster is to provide mobile armoured transport, making the vehicle ideally suited for a range of applications; including policing, peacekeeping, troop transport, weapons platform and protected logistics. The Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle is, as the name suggests, a lightly armed and armoured vehicle, and should not be confused with an armoured personnel carrier.

ASLAV-PC (modeled and textured by BEEX)
The Australian Light Armoured vehicle (ASLAV) is a highly mobile, amphibious eight wheeled armoured vehicle that is ideally suited to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance operations. The ASLAV-PC (Personnel Carrier) variant is a two man vehicle (commander and gunner) typically used in reconnaissance, with the ability to transport numerous cavalry scouts or infantry soldiers. The ASLAV-PC is armed with a Kongsberg Protector Remote Weapon System, allowing the gunner to operate the weapon from within the relative safety of the armoured vehicle.

ASLAV-25 (modeled by BEEX)
The Australian Light Armoured vehicle (ASLAV) is a highly mobile, amphibious eight wheeled armoured vehicle that is ideally suited to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance operations. The ASLAV-25 variant is the Australian version of the LAV-25.

Multi-Role Helicopter 90 (MRH-90) (modeled by BEEX)
The Eurocopter MRH-90, based on the NH 90, is a true multi-role helicopter. With its ability to operate both on land and at sea, the MRH-90 was the perfect candidate to compliment and/or replace the existing Black Hawk helicopters used by the ADF.

F-111 (modeled by BEEX)
The F-111 is affectionately known as the ‘Pig’ in RAAF circles, for its ability to hunt at night with its nose to the ground thanks to its terrain-following radar. With its numerous weapons, airframe, engine and avionics upgrades, the F-111 remains the fastest and longest range combat aircraft in the region, and operates as an all-weather, day or night air combat strike platform.

Austeyr F88 Variants (modeled by BrotherEstapol)
F88c: The Austeyr F88c is a Carbine version of the regular F88 which has a 10cm shorter barrel, it is generally used by vehicle crew members, who have less space to work with.
The Anti-Tank Class will get have the F88c.

F88s: The Austeyr F88s with a picatinny rail in place of the standard optic sight to allow the attachment of various other sights. This particular variant has an ELCAN "Wildcat" C79 scope, which has vastly improved optics over the standard F88 scope.
The Medic Class will be equipped with the F88s.

F88 GLA: This version of the F88 differs from the stadard models as it features an Inter-bar interface (replacing the foregrip and bayonet lug), which allows the user to attach a M203PI Grenade Launcher. It also has a quadrant sight to which a Firepoint red dot sight is attached.
The Assault Class will be lugging this beauty around.

Three Steyr Variants

RPG-7 (modeled and textured by Vando)
The RPG-7 (Ruchnoy Protivotankoviy Granatomet) is a man-portable, shoulder-launched rocket propelled grenade weapons. Its robustness, simplicity, low cost and effectiveness have made it the most widely used RPG in the world. The RPG-7 is popular with irregular and guerrilla forces, including terrorist organisations. Numerous recent conflicts with such forces have seen extensive use of the RPG-7, including Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

FIM-92 Stinger (modeled by BEEX)
Light to carry and relatively easy to operate, the FIM-92 Stinger is a passive infrared homing surface-to-air missile, shoulder-fired by a single operator, although officially it requires two. Browning HP (modeled and textured by BrotherEstapol)
The Browning HP is the sidearm of choice for Australian Defence Force personnel.

Kubaysah Cement Factory (created by Vando)
Based on a real-world ADF operation in Iraq, the “Kubaysah Cement Factory” is all about infantry-focused combat; armour-whores need not apply. Using actual geographical information from the Kubaysah region, ADF and MEC troops will engage in a bloody struggle as they attempt to hold this remote factory. Being caught outside the perimeter could result in certain death from a sniper’s bullet; being caught inside the perimeter could result in certain death from intense firefights among the factory’s numerous structures. Just don’t go crying to your Commander for help – there aren’t going to be any UAV flights or artillery strikes to save you!

Sahl Al Abbah (created by Vando)
The Highway To Hell. Responding to numerous fatal rocket attacks and improvised explosive devices aimed at disrupting Allied convoys on the highway passing through Sahl Al Abbah, Australian forces have been deployed to a remote village south of the town. Intent upon regaining strategic control of the region, the ADF must negotiate both the volatile streets of Sahl Al Abbah, the unforgiving desert surroundings, and a determined and unrelenting MEC presence.

That’s about it for our second community update. I’m sure we can slip one more in before the release of 0.3… as we always say “May is a good month to release a mod”.

One final thought: With ANZAC Day approaching, let us honour the bravery and sacrifice of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), and of all those who served their country. These brave souls gave so much, so we can ask so little in return. Lest we forget.
