An Upsclaed texture mod for Alice Madness Returns that you can download and use TFC installer to inject upscaled textures for the game.
Tutorial:
1. Download the zipped folder (named mymod)
2. Download TFC Installer
3.Unzip the textures (named mymod)
4. Open TFC Installer and select your game folder (Steam version of Alice will likely be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alice Madness Returns)
5. Now click the texture pack/Game patch folder and select the folder you put all the textures in
6. Back at TFC Installer click the blue button saying Update Alice Madness Returns
7. Once that is completed launch Alice
CutScenes upscaled : Nexusmods.com
You should not have to do this every time
Extra tips:
Uncap the FPS for Alice
1. Go to your Alice folder (same as earlier) and click Alice game, then click config
2. Open DefaultEngine.ini (as notepad)
3. Look for MinSmoothedFrameRate and change this to what you want (recommend 60 or 144)
4. Look for MaxSmoothedFrameRate and change this to one above the number you changed for the MinSmoothedFrameRate (ex: if you put 60 for the min make it 61)
5. Save the notepad and close it then launch Alice
Skip the intro (spicy horse, etc.)
1. Go to the Alice folder you set for the TFC installer (THERE IS FILES THAT LOOK SIMILAR TO UNCAPPING YOUR FPS BUT ARE NOT THE SAME)
2. Open the engine folder then open the config folder
3. Open BaseEngine.ini (as notepad)
4. Scroll to the very bottom and scroll up till you find
- StartupMovies=Intro_EA.bik
- StartupMovies=Intro_SH.bik
- StartupMovies=TechLogo_Short.bik
- PCStartupMovies=Intro_Nvidia.bik
5. Add a; in front of these three lines
Should look like this :
;StartupMovies=Intro_EA.bik
;StartupMovies=Intro_SH.bik
;StartupMovies=TechLogo_Short.bik
;PCStartupMovies=Intro_Nvidia.bik
6. Save your notepad and launch the game and it should skip the intros and save time!
In the pic with the rug I can't really see any difference, much less one worth 25GB with my 5MB/s internet it'd take an hour. Has anyone who has downloaded this got better comparison pictures? If it matters I'd only be playing at 1920x1080 60FPS
Im going to be taking this file down anyways because for some reason it got broke since the last time i used it, so im remaking it and hopefully gonna be able to make it smaller, Its over 9000 files upscaled to 4k. I will try to upload a 1080p version later today or tomorrow. Ill update you when i get it done
is there a 2560x1440 option? Or should I just do the 4k one for that? also is the file good to download now or still broken?
Is the 1080P version out yet?
Sorry it's taking a bit long college has got me and the files are being stubborn it has to be in PF_DXT1 pixel format but it keeps going at a PF_DXT5 after converting
Let's see. I can download an almost 24 gig file here. But to use it I need the TFC installer which is behind a paywall at Nexus Mods??? Too bad we won't be enjoying your hard work. Oh well, moving on!
TFC installer is not locked behind a paywall, I have not paid anything on my end (besides up scaling tools), Im going to be taking this file down anyways because for some reason it got broke since the last time i used it, so im remaking it and hopefully gonna be able to make it smaller, Its over 9000 files upscaled to 4k
Looks like an awesome mod. Could not get net 6.0.26 installed for TFC installer, could do every other 6.x.x net install. Maybe need to try on an older computer. Thanks for sharing
this runs on my computer Software wise im up to date and hardware im on 12th gen intel and 30 series gpu not sure what issue your running into, The creator of TFC is quick to help people
WolfeL. Good show! In 4k with all the tweaks this looks amazing! My (Mad Hatter's) hat off to you!
bulletspongebob, not sure why the files are almost 25 Gigs. My install only increased to ~9.3 Gigs.
Guest Feb 12 2024. You only need the TFC installer, not all the rest Nexus Mods suggests. You do not have to pay for that. Yes, you need to make an account, but the file is small enough to get past their download file size limit.
Hey, thank you for responding to people! If you have tried this did it make the menus and other textures look better? I had a person message me saying that it didn't do anything and I tried it myself and it wasn't working anymore
The download button still says 23.75GB for me, is it displaying the wrong file size or did you only install some of the mod files?
Hello There, first of all, thank you so much for your work!
It's quite a long time since i played Alice1 and Alice2. So I wanna try it again. So my situation is :
4K Monitor at 120hz with FPS edited.
My Gamepath is
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Alice Madness Returns\Game\Alice2\
TFC finish fine with no errors. But my game size doesnt change. still 11,9Gib and i can't tell its working or not. The quality was good already i was just searching to make it better aka perfect for a replay...
So the question is : The final size of the game should improved? Or will keep the same? because its the same size as original folder (I made a backup).
The extracted file was 33Gib so for no change at all to size of original folder i imaganed i did something wrong?
Also the TFCInstallerBackups folder its only 16,6Mib
Sorry I meant to take this file down, it got broken at some point i am working on an updated version that works right now, The game is very picky. Im not sure if it would increase the game size or if it does it a different way i did not make that mod, if i find that out ill update you!
Hello WolfeL
I see the file is now 7,74gb. This is the new fixed version or you still have not updated? Thanks!
This should be the new fixed version, I uploaded this on Nexus first and people said that it is fixed, so as far as I know it is. It also fixes some bugs with "black holes" in textures
After 1 month, nothing reported that would need an update ?
Great thanks to have shared your work on this game.
