Fifth Succession War(5th War) is an empire building grand strategy game set within the BattleTech universe, originally created by the now deceased FASA Corp. We are using a variant on the old MechForce tournament setup also called 5th Succession War. The general gist is that in late 3049 when the Clan invasion begins, they arrive in an Inner Sphere already falling into the next of their centuries long struggles for the lost throne of the Star League. Internal politics and aggression leave the Clans of Kerensky nearly as divided as their Great House counterparts.

It is the intention of the development staff to make a game that breathes real life into this rich backdrop despite our limited capabilities in terms of graphics. Unlike previous attempts at this genre, our primary goal is to remain as faithful to the original game mechanics and spirit of the canon fiction as is possible. We are using a multi-layered approach to balancing fights instead of solely relying on the BV2 system.

Players will have the ability to select from several types of Realms they wish to control.

House or Clan Realms will offer the most in terms of the full scope of empire building and tactics.
Mercenary Realms loose the imperial aspect and focus on fighting and economy.
Solaris VII Stables are almost pure combat types with a heavy focus on PvP for fame, fortune and glory.
Pirate Realms offer the greatest challenge to players, initially they begin play with very little besides a small force and transportation, they must steal to survive and grow. If a Pirate Realm grows and establishes a significant infrastructure then they may choose to become a Semi-Legitimate Authority. This represents a middle ground between pirate and house realm types and begins to open up the economic and research options. Further work can eventually open the door to becoming a custom House Realm, with all of the options of normal House Realms.

Players will be able to choose how they wish to play from purely warlike realms to a manufacturing giant to a free trader. Each player can become a vital part of the universe, supporting a large faction or even being completely independent of one.
