Report RSS Win32 Text Based Game

Posted by on

In the past little while, I have been doing a lot with Win32. From simple console applications that do math, to more complicated text games. As of, well, four days ago, I have been working on a top down space text game. Right now, its just a bare-bone model of what is to come.

Oh, yes. What 'is" to come? Well here is what i have planned for the near future:

  • Finish the base of the game:
    • Make movement smoother
    • Improve refresh-rates
    • Add items the player can use
    • and fix some bugs.
  • Load/save:
    • Me, having little experience outside of how to save to a text file, have no save or load feature yet - but it will come, oh yes, it will.
  • World gen:
    • I plan on having a limited universe the player can explore, but in that universe:
      • Players will find randomly generated planets they can explore, and space stations to gather supplies.
      • Go on missions, traveling planet to planet, fighting space pirates, and saving the day - one character at a time.
    • Eventually ship generation will be integrated, but that will probably only come into play in the summer.
  • MULTIPLAYER
    • Having more experience in networking than i do in reading/writing to files, this should come before loading and saving (sorry.)
  • An actual campaign
    • Ranging from saving the day, to lazing around, to sand box worlds.

And this is all gonna be in good ol' ASCII.
