I'm Doug, Game Director at Sanctum Studios. Recently, you may have heard about Unreal releasing the UDK. Because of this new occurrence, our project has changed slightly. Originally, we had set out to make a total conversion mod for Unreal Tournament 3 based on Marvel Comics Dr. Strange. However, now we can actually be associated with our work, both from a monetary and industry point of view.
We have abandoned Dr. Strange for a more original idea. Something that uses the original gameplay mechanics and also adds new ones. Teardrop of the Soul (working title) is a 3rd person stealth adventure game that will present some new and exciting features into a unique setting.
In TDoS, many influences will be present. The acrobatic prowess of Prince of Persian: SoT and Tomb Raider. The "explore when you have the ability" style of Metroid and Soul Reaver. Finally, the track, hunt, and kill reminiscent of Turok and Trapt.
After destroying the physical body of your master, a life draining Sorcerer, you must make your way through his decaying, partially destroyed castle and hunt his remaining energy signatures that have taken refuge in multiple life forms.
Our goal is to implement the following features:
- Intense story driven 3rd person adventure
- Highly engaging acrobatic environmental puzzles
- One of a kind stealth system allows you to track, tag, trap, and eliminate enemies
- Unique spell upgrades that will allow you to progress through the game
- Intelligent enemy AI that will track you just as well as you can track them
- One consistent location
- Epic score
