Hello, I am a huge fan of Science Fiction, mainly star wars, star trek, battlestar galactica, Babylon 5 and stargate. I have only been a member here for a short time, and I have already played hundreds of awesome mods. I would like to hear any opinions on current events, or anything random. The community here is great, and I am glad to be a part of it, even if all the Battlestar Galactica mods have gone the way of the Dodo... :( Anyways, besides that, this is a great mod site, and I look forward to seeing what kind of mods there will be in the future, since mods are inching ever so closer to being exactly like commercial games. I am in college, studying business and programming, and I keep the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Project Mod page up-to-date. Thanks for visiting my profile, and have a great day :)

Report RSS Battlestar Galactica mods: RIP

I literally hit the refresh button twice when I read Spinobreakers news post about his mod (a favorite of mine) Science Fiction At War. It had been deleted because of a copyright infingement claim by NBC, because it contained Battlestar Galactica Content. My heart immediately sank as I readied myself for the realization of what this news was concerning. 20 mods, less than an hour, wiped from the face of the earth. At that moment I grabbed my forehead in whincing pain. When my friend asked me what's wrong, I replied:"It's as if hundreds of voices cried out, because their work was suddenly silenced...". My two personal favorite mods: SFAW and Battlestar Galactica: fleet commander mod for Homeworld 2, were gone. It wasn't so bad that the Homeworld 2 mod was gone, It had already been completed, and I owned the latest release, but SFAW... I will track that mod wherever it goes. :) I feel kind of helpless, I know that Mod-database admins were just doing their jobs, and NBCU was well within their rights to protect their intellectual property, but then who is left to take the blame? Certainly not the Modders, artists, programmers, and dreamers who put thousands of hours worth of work into something that doesn't offer any sort of profit, or revenue, but instead the admiration and gratitude of hundreds and thousands of fans loyal to their favorite science-fiction franchise. If anything, these mods generate more fans, and increases the fanbase of Battlestar Galactica. Without the Battlestar Galactica Fleet Commander Mod, I wouldn't have ever watched the new series, or even have tried out BGO from BigPoint games. This has made me a little bit sad, and this is the first time I have felt the need to express my feelings in blog form, and It surely won't be my last blog. I don't want this sad blog to stay on my main page forever you know! :D Anyways, I will post something new when I am a little bit happier about the Battlestar Galactica situation, or when enough time has passed that I have played enough good mods that I want to talk about them. See you around! :)
