Well it's official, I've given into peer pressure and I'm trying out DOTA2. Not being a big fan of MOBA games, it took a lot for me to try this one out. That being said, I love the art style and the gameplay is very deep, but I just don't know if it's for me yet.

On the plus side the gameplay is deep and fluid and with every game playing out very different from the last (although some tactics do get used often). The characters all have different abilities (with some sharing similar attacks, buffs etc), which is impressive when you look at the vast array of playable characters. The art style and graphics are just stunning to look at, it is obvious a lot of love and polish went into everything in this game. The game also has lots of gear and other visual upgrades that are available, with a lot of it created by the fan base! The game does have some very exciting and tense moments in matches.

However, on the downside I'm just not sure how I feel about a game that asks you to kill your minions and towers to deny your opponent xp points. It is just a very strange tactic to me, and one that I dislike immensely, and unfortunately it is a core mechanic in DOTA2 that must be employed to have any chance in winning.

I'm still in the learning/"total noob" stage of the game, and I hope that the game grows on me. Either that or I can just play more BF4 when it comes out, because that game is going to be awesome!
